The only chance England have of winning the euros is if Southgate gets abducted
I'm watching the tennis instead. After all it is just a friendly.

Wouldn’t care if we won the Euros playing like that.Though with the attacking players we have it’s amazing Southgate plays such dour football really.
To be fair Southgate was experimenting tonight, it’s not like he was sending his first 11 out to make a statement. For me that’s fair enough given that we have an issue at left back and he has to whittle 7 players out of this squad.
I thought Grealish looked good when he came on, Palmer is an absolute must. Wharton will likely miss out but he is a def for the future.
Bowen - probably cemented his spot
Watkins was shiete again - he is not international class, always a second behind
Same old England unconvincing win. All that attacking talent and no cutting edge. Defence not really tested. Just as well too. You hope that they might pull together in the real tournament, but with Southgate who knows.
Germany by the way managed a 0-0 home draw with Ukraine tonight

not gonna judge him harshly at the end of a long season finding his feet in a team thats not played together. Toney looked better with his chance but again hes a lot fresher lol.
We did better 2nd half atleast. Not a fan of Southgate or his football but wouldn't got ott tonight.

Watkins just doesn’t fit in this England side - partly his fault, partly tactics.
Toney offers a genuine plan B - he is an absolute unit that we can knock a ball up to
At least Harry Kane came off the bench and livened things up.
What Southgate needs is 10 Harry Kanes and a GK.

Kane has goalkeeping experience
Team that has never played before wins 3-0 at home and some fans are bored
We really do have some of the worst fans, nauseatingly entitled.
Watkins is so overrated IMO. I don't think he should go. I'd rather as stick with Toney as back up for Kane and then one of the other fringe players in AM or CM such as Wharton instead of Watkins.

A 3-0 win and being bored are not mutually exclusive.
The first half was boring contributed to by the negative and fouling and diving approach of the opposition and a slow tempo by England.
It got better as they tired and we brought on more and more quality,.
What annoys me with Southgate is that he is experimenting 2 weeks before the kick off.
He should have looked at Braithwaite back in the April friendlies. Palmer also.
To me it seems daft to start with so may debutants at this stage with a line up that is nowhere near what it will be in the comps.
For me the experimenting should have been largely done by now and these line ups should be may be 2 or 3 possibles getting game time with the likely starters, at least for 1 hour.
I mean are we going to take the likes of Braithwaite and Wharton on the back of 30 minutes football?, where neither have played alongside their likely partner at CB/CM.
Pissspoor preparation from Southgate IMO and leads to displays like last night where players were virtual strangers and thus didnt click.

We won 3-0
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The concept is clearly too difficult for you to handle.
A penalty after 1 hour and 2 goals in the last 5 minutes does not necessarily = entertaining.
Victory or even goals do not necessarily = entertaining. You can have a thrilling 0-0 draw
I didn’t say it was entertaining, I said some fans are entitled, because they are.
We won 3-0 in a friendly with a team that’s never played together before in preparation for a tournament.
They’re not going to be busting a gut particularly, it’s just a game of football for preparation which we won comfortably (again).
I mean, look, whinge away if you want to
It was boring is what the OP said and I'd agree, pretty uninspiring until a few changes were made (Eze aside, he was exciting). And that's not about a sense of entitlement that we should be entertained, but the expectation that with the high quality players we have we should be playing high quality football, which we didnt...so many long balls, little creativity or invention, lots of slow safe possession.
Players playing for their place in the squad, it should be far from "not busting a gut"
‘We’re not entitled… but we expect’
I’ll leave you to it.
Are we really making judgments on Southgate based on a performance by an experimental second string side? The priority at the moment is getting that squad trimmed to 26 players. He has to let 7 go. How else is he going to make that call without playing these lads and seeing how they get on? Of course it wasn't going to be free-flowing. They've never played together before.
On the match itself, I'm surprised a lot of fans have been saying it's one of Eze or Maddison going. To my mind they're completely different players. I think it's one of Eze and Grealish. Madison offers a level of craft Eze doesn't have. That ability to see a pass others don't is priceless and we don't really have anyone else in that 'Odergaard' mould. Eze is a top player but if he's creating something, mostly it's for himself. He won't find a man but he might dribble and take a shot of his own.
Going back to all things Spurs, one thing that struck me last night is that I'm not entirely sure whether Eze would actually work in an Ange system. He's not a number 10. If anything he's a wide left man that likes to cut inside. Isn't that what Son does? Obviously Eze is a top player but it does feel a little like we're strengthening an area we're already strong in. I think we've all been so charmed by the idea of signing a top player like Eze without thinking whether he's the profile we currently need. I'm just as guilty of it. Part of me doesn't want him to go to the Euros because it'll mean his price tag will shoot up.

I get people saying it’s boring.
My take on that is I think it’s acceptable. I find international friendlies about as exciting as leaves blowing in the wind - it is not unique to Southgate or England. Scotlands 2-0 win over Gibraltar wasn’t exactly a classic and Germany played out a very boring 0-0 draw with Ukraine.
I think it was fine for Southgate to experiment further. His first 11 pretty much picks itself, have played together loads and know the tactics inside out. We have an issue at left back, and there is numerous quality options for the 3rd CM, other than that the other 9 starting positions are nailed down and we’re one of the faves.
This game was a chance for the second string - especially those who might get cut, to prove they are worth a place. Naturally some fell flat and others rose to the occasion and it was this aspect that made it worth watching.
Eze - not sure he did enough, Maddison set up the equaliser against Belgium, so Southgateight go with him instead. Eze was decent though.
Wharton - I like this guy a lot, I would take him, controlled the pace well, looks tailor made for international football
Grealish - I think he secured his place last night. He was arguably the most in danger of losing his spot out of the established players, but he was very good when he came on and offers something different to our packer wide forwards.
Bowen - surely going, natural back up to Saka and can play up top alongside Kane if necessary
Konsa - despite blocking Bowens shot I thought he did well and showed he could cover multiple positions - could be our Swiss Army knife player
Watkins - he ain’t going, no way Southgate is picking him after last night, he is currently not up to it
TAA - probably the best player on the pitch last night. I think he has pushed his credentials for starting games against the sides with low blocks where Southgate can be more adventurous. I suspect he will revert to Gallagher when the tougher KO opponents come along.
Branthwaite - this guy will be a top player, does Southgate want to take him now?
Quansah, Jones and Dunk - won’t be going
Gomez and Guehi - should be going
