Mr one star bandit it would be good to hear your opinion. Did you not like the game ?
Loved it. Also imo the best menu music ever.
Really enjoyed it, solid story. Questing in general is fun, and the big set pieces are gruelling.
Yeah there's very little I don't like about the game. Really good story if not the most original one in the world. Surprised it's not a much bigger hit and talked about on par with games like Last of Us. Personally I prefer this game so far. Seems like bad critic reviews at launch didn't help.
More completely broken game for the first few months made critics tank it.
As you said very solid game in there now for sure. And I guess why it isn't spoken about so much is its almost 10 years newer than TLoU, and the likes of RDR2 and TLoU 2 are just better at what they do. Again taking nothing away from Days Gone - nowadays its a solid 8-9 vs 9/10s of the great games.
I enjoyed it a lot, story wasn't amazing but the mechanics of the actually game felt unique and the hoards could be genuine terrifying in a way I hadn't really encountered before.
Yeah suddenly coming face to face with a horde isn't like anything I've experienced in any other game lol. The sheer amount of them and the noise the horde makes is definitely unique. There's way more to the game than just that though of course.
Played it a few years ago and loved it.
Real shame it was released with so many bugs, and I also think the story should have been condensed as it was very long, but it's a far better game than the ratings it got.
Sadly due to that we'll never have a sequel.

Yeah if any game deserves a sequel it's this one but even if it doesn't it's a great game that you're missing out on if you don't play.
I have this in my PlayStation library, but have never played it.
Will definitely give it a go at some point now. I still have God Of War and Spiderman 2 to complete first. Just don't seem to have the time to play with an 8 month old at moment.
If you don't have time to play the game then my advice would be don't start it as it's dangerously addictive lol
Started playing it. Loved it and then got married and haven't played it since. That was 2.5 years ago ;(
You need to get a divorce so that you can resume
My review from when we last talked about it
__________________________________________
On the grand scale of open world games, it sits below the big two from Rockstar, however it effectively pulls off the zombie apocalypse in the same way red dead does westerns and gta does big cities. all in all, I would say it sits comfortably as one of the best games in the tier below those two.
Game play wise the controls can feel a little clunky at first, however you quickly get used to them and it stops being a problem fairly quickly. as you level up you get new skills and your bike gets better parts which all but gets rid of any chunkiness with the controls.
story wise its nothing to write home about, the story is effective in parts and the narrative is good for driving you through the map to open up the world. If anything I think the story opening up actually takes away the overall feel of the game, not to give too much away but obviously as the game moves through the reasons for the outbreak start to become more apparent, personally I think it works better when you are just some biker guy from Oregon who doesn’t have any idea why it happened, only that it happened, not understanding what happened, just that you are left to survive and deal with a world gone mad was better in my opinion because let’s be honest, that is what would happen if you ever were in that situation.
If anything, the game does suffer a little from level creep in regards that usually about two thirds of the way through the content you hit a point where you get overpowered as your skill set, stamina, strength, "deadeye" and weapons become more effective than the zombies you are up against.
this is very evident with hordes (which are huge swarm of zombies).
The first time you come across one of these on in the early game you will crap yourself and either bug out in a panic or quickly get overrun. You will wonder how you will ever destroy it and get into that part of the map.
the first time you manage to take one down you will feel like the king of (what’s left of) the world.
By the third or fourth you hit your stride.
After that it’s a little too easier to do and you find it more of a chore than a challenge.
When I finally clocked it (there are a couple of good story closing off missions after the main quest is complete) I was happy I had played it as I enjoyed it, however I couldn’t help thinking that actually the weaker points of the game would need addressing in a sequel.
I mean, if they build on this, by improving game dynamics, side quests and mission variety, and deal with the level creep, Days Gone 2 would be a world beater of a game.

I honestly hate Sony for canning the sequel, there was so much they could have done with this franchise, imagine a sequel where you get to base build and make a camp like one of the others in the game, or a horde of breakers that appear in the end game to make hordes hard again.
Right let's put to bed the false news here. Sony never canned the sequel. Bend, not Sony, decided not to do a MPesque sequel with one of their now ex game directors, they have since been working on whatever their new project was (not many studios are able to jump straight into a sequel).
So if Sony want a sequel to Days Gone the option will be there, but it will be at least 6-7 years away as Bend willneec to finish doing whatever it is they are doing.

Incorrect. Was internal Bend. Unfortunately "Sony cans Days Gone sequel" makes a much better story than "A normal day in a games studio happens". And even the article says they might go back.....so also means it hasn't been canned
"The lead writer Garvin and director Jeff spoke about this in a podcast with David Jaffe. Sony didn't have the oportunity to reject since the idea never left the studio to begin with."
So there's still a chance we get a Days Gone 2 then ?

Yes sir, and by all accounts PC sales were good. Will need to see, bend have been quiet for the last 5 years and still don't think we know what their current project is.....however the industry is currently worried with what they basically consider "high risk" investments (single player games)
Great game, remember being near the train tracks in the first area and getting rushed by the horde, didnt have a clue they were there until i turned around and theres 100 of them running at me
