True, I think he was always likely to be ahead of Lindelof and it was more the injury to Martinez that got him minutes. Slabhead only played 100 minutes more than Varane.
Who realistically would go for him this summer and be able to pay a good wage? Now Moyes has gone I don't see West Ham interested, Everton have no money and the other sides seem to be a bit more sensible with their transfers.
Hopefully as long as Martinez is fully healed then he shouldn't be getting injury problems, both big injuries were different and happened because of an opponent injurying him.

Yeah but he wouldn’t have expected his own injuries. Going into last season you can understand why he would fancy his chances of getting back in the team. That could be completely different this summer, especially if he’s told in no uncertain terms he has no future at the club.
Where he could go is another matter, however.
Maguire has a year left on his contract with the club having an extra year's option.
He may just feel now that getting a five year deal elsewhere (for less money but still a decent wage) is a better option for security and to get playing time.
Or he could wait a year and get a nice signing on fee from someone? I guess he'd have to agree with United to not trigger his extension, maybe that's what Varane did?

Not one of us here knows what Harry has in mind, of course, but at this stage of his career I'm working on the presumption that he'll want to be playing.
From a United point of view I wouldn't be disappointed at all if he stayed as back up.
I'd rather sell Lindelof than Maguire anyway tbh.
I genuinely couldn’t tell you a single game Lindelof played for us last season

Played left back at one point didn’t he?
The BBC are reporting that we have agreed personal terms with Branthwiate, so looks like its genuine. They are also saying that Everton want £80m. That is about £30m too much for me. Might be a good chance that this one doesn't happen.

Isn’t there some clause we get him cheaper before June 30? IMO it’ll be done for like £50 million plus add ons
There’s no clause but Everton need the cash before July.

He played a few at LB, like City, and looks atrocious. He needs to be shipped out.
Just heard on the radio while driving that it’s reported we’ve submitted an offer of around £35m, which will be rejected as they’re asking for £70m.
What sort of fee do you think you are looking at with Braithwaite.
Similar benchamarks - White to Arsenal £50m, but that was a few years back
Stones to City, £50m but also ages ago
VDV to Spurs £43m although probably lower profile and now PL/English tax.
I can see Everton wanting a good £55m with add-ons as they would probably rather sell others ahead of Braithwaite, although may be forced into a sale.

This will be like the summer we bid £12m for both Baines and Fellaini, and ended up with just Fellaini for £27m. And he had a release clause of £23m which we let expire.
I expect us to eventually have to pay Everton £80m and receive Michael Keane in return...
