A mixed tail Loidis-Norvegicus:
A couple of years ago, the team where I was born was relegated out of the football league and now are mid-table in the National League, this is the downside of having two massive clubs as your near neighbours. I can go and watch them at Eastleigh.
My closest league club beat my beloved LUFC in the play-off final and I have that to go back to at the end of the summer.
During the summer, where I decamp to they achieved promotion to the Super Lig for the first time in their history beating somebody or other in the playoffs.
My home village is so tiny we don't have a football team but there has been initiative to introduce kids cricket training for the first time in 35 years.
I'm from Farnworth near Bolton. The first football ground I went to was Burnden Park (the old BWFC ground) to watch them play Piccadilly Radio All-stars for charity.
The match involved buckets of water and custard pies, so naturally at the age of 10 I gravitated towards Leeds United who are never short of the odd clown in our boardroom...
My home team is Montreal FC. With one of the richest owners in the MLS you'd think we would put a decent team on the field every couple of decades.
We did get Drogba for a couple of seasons but he couldn't do it on his own. Funny how Miami doesn't seem to have any problem getting pals of Messi shoehorned into the team.
We're also responsible for setting marcsh loose on the footballing world. Sorry about that.
In a hockey mad town that starts every season with the disadvantage of playing the first month or so on the road the interest just isn't there.
"Stealing the drinks from your neighbour's table"
So you're one of those minesweepers that have me wondering where my money went when I wake up!.
Yep, a lot of times I give out more than I thought!.
Back to your question, I came over here in 82 with the Army, and I've been stuck eversince, my local club is Vfl Osnabrück, I live a ten minite walk from the ground so have no problems getting there, I know it was hard when we lost our final at Wembley, but I had it twice as hard, we lost that game and Vfl came last in the 2 liga, so, having a season ticket for Osna, I can lick my wounds in the 3rd div and only hope things get better for both my teams!..
There are 4 teams in Belfast who play in the Northern Ireland premier league.
My team Linfield who I would go and watch quite a few times each season are managed by ex Leeds player and Northern Ireland legend David Healy.
You could say they have been quite successful having won over 200 trophies including 56 Irish league titles and 44 Irish cups.
Dartford got relegated after a disastrous season.
Finn Harps have had a decent start to Division 1 in Ireland but are just about hanging on to a play off place.

Oldham?
Hi Loidis and thanks for the thread👍.
Well my Mum, who brought me up, was a Hunslet lass (hence my life-long devotion) and my Dad was a dyed-in-the-wool Brentford supporter. For many a decade, I would keep an eye on Brentford in the old 4th and 3rd divisions at a (even then) crumbling Griffin Park … never would I have thought that one day they were the team for us (er, Leeds that is😁) to try and emulate. Funny old world👍.
club from my someplace......I grew up in Harrow, closest club was Wealdstone.....never watched them play until went to watch the Beckford match....don't follow them at all.
Summer for me will be heading to Vancouver July 15 for a motorcycle tour around British Columbia
Light, a hunslet man? - lived next to the Parnaby for a few years.
interesting area, good times though
I never had a true "homeplace" as a kid. My dads job had us travelling round the country for years, certainly my early years. He was a geordie and massive Newcastle fan, so by default I was kitted out in black and white for a few years (including my first visit to ER in the early 70s!).
But then Sunday afternoon TV, I started watch Leeds, with commentary from I think it was Keith Macklin (could be wrong). I just got hooked on Leeds from that point. He was gutted. I've never drifted from supporting Leeds ever since. Always had season tickets for local clubs when abroad (Roda/Sporting Lisbon/Bari), but Leeds has always been my club.
I'll always have a soft spot for Newcastle (unless we're playing them), because of his memory.

Yep, but ‘knee high to a grasshopper’ Spanish … depending on when your family was in Hunslet, our forefathers could have met down t’pub🍻
What is annoying for me, is that our neighbour town is in the top tier of Norwegian football.
My local club is in 3rd division.
And they are better than us in icehockey as well. It's a tough life...
Thanks for sharing guys. Been a good read
