Whilst I disagree with the ban on us signing him, I'm not happy about clubs taking / threatening legal action against federations / leagues.

Is he THAT good?

Aren't the Saudi fund allowed to sell/ loan players between clubs they have an interest in?

Funny how our fans don’t see the issue when it’s our club

Jim is the new Ten Hag only buying players he knows from his previous clubs.

Yes but isnt that because they operate outside of UEFA/PL jurisdiction?

If this is going to cause an issue then perhaps the multi-club ownership thing needs to be looked at?

It shouldn’t be allowed.

The issue is that both clubs are in the same competition. It's why clubs like Watford and Udinese werew able to trade players

Newcastle don't, and they were allowed to loan players from the Saudi PFI clubs (not sure if they were through with it in the end)

Nov 23:

Newcastle will be able to sign players on loan from sides also controlled by their Saudi owners in January, after a vote by Premier League clubs on a temporary ban on related-party loans did not receive the required support.

Twelve clubs voted in favour of a block on loan moves between teams under the same ownership.

That was two short of the two-thirds majority needed for it to be passed.

SO long as clubs are selling players to Saudi only to loan them back, i suppose this makes no real difference.

Although Saudi are so wealthy that they could easily buy a player, like Neves from Wolves, and loan him to NUFC soon after. Only difficulty is who pays the players mega wages?

Could United do a loan with option to buy?

As the 2nd club of Manchester you are following the number 1 club in Manchester which is to hire lawyers if you don't get your way.

"It's gonna be another De Jong summer window"

Not sure about that, by all reports we've bid or enquired about at least 3 CBs so far. I guess the Todibo is unique and if the club can get their way will mean an area sorted for a fairly good price. de Jong never at any point wanted to leave Barca, hopefully we don't go after players in that situation.

There are other options around too. It's not Todibo or bust surely?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Branthwaite, Yoro, Todibo, De Ligt all being heavily linked.

It looks like we're doing things the right way for once and chasing multiple targets for the same position (or even squad berth).

Let's hope it ends in actual players being signed . I am believing nothing until the actual press conference with the player in question

In other INEOS news, the Athletic reports that they are considering selling naming rights to help fund the renovation / new stadium, which I guess is no surprise. Also looking at price increases.

Not surprised at price increases, one thing in fairness to the Glazers letting the place rot year on year is that my ticket prices have barely gone up in about a decade.

They're already forcing fans £35 a pop. Kick in the teeth since people actually have commitments outside of football and it's nice to be able to let friends and family go to a game when you can't make it.

I've a feeling Ratcliffe is going to screw the fans over the next few years.

Russian

Personally never had any issue with this. No one will call it by whatever the sponsors is apart from the media, it'll always be called Old Trafford by fans. Same applies to the Camp Nou, no one calls it the Spotify Camp Nou.

It's slightly different if the stadium is new and given a sponsor like the Emirates, but I don't recall any Arsenal fans getting annoyed by it's name or calling it Ashburton Grove.

It's not something I'd campaign for but, as MU82 states, people will still call it Old Trafford. I doubt we'll hear people say "we're going to Mercedes Old Trafford today!"

The price increases could well bite though. Perhaps that would be a step too far, especially if the team isn't performing on the pitch. If Ineos make us successful again though I doubt it'll be a straight line up. I expect a few bumps in the road.
