Largely untrue. If you look at their stats, De Ligt started in the vast majority of matches in the second half of the season. Missed a couple with injury. Came on from the bench three times in total while Dier was at Bayern; one can speculate that this was related to managing his fitness. Otherwise started every match.

Don't think he's going to suddenly turn into a top manager off the back of it though. This is still the same guy who lost 19 games in a season and finished 8th with a minus GD.

-------

Yet with all the issues he faced which you can't acknowledge for some weird reason has won two trophies of how many on offer each season amongst how many teams?

So glad we have people in place that are the polar opposite to people like you.

The Bayern fans rate him as their best CB. The myth about being displaced by Dier does the round by many who hardly watched Bayern play. He did ok at Juventus and has played well when fit for Bayern.

The issues really are wages and injuries. He's slow but not as slow as he's made out to be by English fans.

I am personally against it as players that get injured often don't get better at United. Either it stays the same or gets worse. Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Owen Hargreaves, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Rafael Varane, etc.

If we could guarantee fitness, he'd be worth a punt. But the injuries and wages should mean we don't go for him.

Indeed, it was Min Jae who was the liability and Dier started in his place most time, but it does speak to the quality of Bayern where Dier walks into a starting berth where he is judged so lowly by PL fans.

Still find it an odd choice for United who surely need a bit of pace in that back line.

It almost seems like lazy journalism given DeLigt's Dutch/Ajax ties with ETH, or is it just lazy scouting.

Hargreaves, Schwinsteiger! Hargreaves probably had one decent season then his knees went!
