🚨 Archie Gray has completed medical + signed 6yr contract to join Tottenham from Leeds. Deal for midfielder effectively £25m + Joe Rodon. #LUFC finalising paperwork on #THFC defender, delayed by being in USA. Completion expected later today

I trust Don. Don's connected.

I don't trust Maguire. He's still basically a click bait merchant.

Think its a great deal for the club.

Strong money.

Rodon and Wober! Sounds good on paper.

If Austria keep progressing in Euros, and they have a chance against Turkey, Wober's stock will rise, so he may yet get a move away for a few million - he did ok last time out against the Dutch.

Its a terrible deal. The money is only making up for the Augustin debacle. Leeds should keep Gray and build a promotion winning team around him

Objectively - circa £40M for an 18 year old who has only played in the EFL and a cup game against Chelsea, I would argue that's a very good piece of business for a player that's basically potential. - And yes I think Archies the 'Bees Knees'

Another bad decision by Leeds that will only harm the future of Gray. This kid will now languish on the bench or in the U21s for Spurs and then likely be packed off on loan for years before being sold on in a cut price deal. Spurs only want to buy to meet their home grown quota, Leeds want to sell to meet ridiculous PSR rules. What a sad indictment of the state of English football, rules designed to improve the game only harm it.

Augustin is a completely different thing, Got nothing to do with Gray, or any transfer.

Build a team around him, he’s 18. A midfielder who the manager would rather play at right back.

Gray doesnt get us promoted, I like the kid, think he’s got potential and hope he does well.

But £40m for a 18 year old whos only played in championship, is an incredible deal

Leeds will earn far from Gray in the long run by having him in the team and earning promotion and the possibly selling him for more when he is a full international. This is Ken Bates style, pound shop business practice back again, no ambition

pains me to say this but brilliant for Leeds this, crazy money for a kid who's never played top level football.

not saying its not a shame he's leaving, think he would have made a great player and followed in his family's footsteps as a club legend,

but these days, 40 million quid?, yeah I'll drive the lad to spurs myself

Build a team around an 18 year old right back?? Really?

Take his surname out of the equation and it’s a great deal for Leeds, for him and spurs.

Apart from Leeds, no club can get anywhere £40m revenue in the Champ without parachute payment.

We getting that in pure profit, its an insane deal for a championship club.

Take the emotion out, its an absolute no brainer

Only if he'd signed for Brentford

Agree with most - mental money for a lad that's done very little.

But I'm fed up of taking the emotion out of it.

Business wise yes great deal.

But for the love of football its crap. And it hurts.

Have to agree.

Money needed to strengthen the squad, absolute no brainer. I'd have bitten their hand off.

No room for sentiment in football it's a cut-throat game. Tell young lads like Charlie Allen about sentiment at least Archie's got a club.

Only issue here is where is it most needed to be spent to stregthen, until we sell a couple of others we really will not know who we will need to replace.

posted on 1/7/24

Because it’s silly money for a player with one season in the Championship.

Agree/disagree, like it/don't like it....we are not being mugged off for our talents anymore. Sadly, this sale it would seem was needed and if Rodon is factored in, I think it is palatable.

posted on 1/7/24

There are bigger teams than Leeds in football and top division teams will snap up the talent from players in the lower leagues and always will. Until we reach the top end, we'll always be losing our top talent.

In other news, Cresswell's move to Toulouse appears to have fallen through.

I don’t think there’s much chance of us ever winning the league during my lifetime unfortunately.

Not to sound like Jesse effing Marsch but we are going to have to just enjoy moments, Gray was definitely something we could enjoy and be proud of. If we had managed promotion last season then we could have enjoyed him for a few seasons longer

If Gray had a choice he'd be our player for years to come!..

But things the way they were it seems we had no choice, one good thing about it is we now know the 49ers will play hard ball to get the best deal possible for our players!..

We shouldn't forget, the mess we're now in hasn't come in one season, things were out of order before they came in, when was the last time people talked about money like this for one of our players?..

ManC, Barcelona to name a couple that took us for a ride, but they're not the only ones!..
