Some Turkish team could yet come in for him. Depends on who we are able to sign and what happens with Maguire.
I'd personally keep Maguire over him anyday.
Did I see the other day he'd rejected a contract extension, with one year left? If so, €10m is a good outcome. Strengthens the view, too, that we are attempting to bring in two CBs this window.
Not a bad fee really all things considered.
Should mean we are going to bring in 2 CBs this summer.

Robb and I will be happy if this deal happens.
Personally feel this should have been priority one over Zirkzee. He's a proven scorer in the PL and because of his contract he won't go for silly amounts.
I’d love Toney, but surely we won’t sign two strikers in one window, given the need for 2x CB and a CM?

Maybe be at the end of the day he’s still 28 and would cost a lot. He’s a good player but I feel penalties make him look more prolific than he is.
His best PL scoring season from play is 4 more goals than Hojlunds 1st season as 20-21 year old.
I don’t get wanting to sign Toney, unless they really think Holland isn’t going to cut it.
Huge money, huge wages for Toney, and one of the two of them would be spending upwards of 75% of the season on the bench.
Plus we have very limited funds, plus it isn’t an area where we’re looking for a direct first team upgrade.
I don’t think Ineos will be going for it anyway. Hopefully we’re beyond spending fortunes and dishing out £250k p/w contracts to players on the cusp of their thirties with no resale value.
*I don’t get people wanting
If Toney does *really* want to join, he’ll surely accept serving as a rotation option, waive any signing on fee and graciously accept something in the region of £150k p/w.
I very highly doubt that will happen though.
Define huge money.
Toney has one year on his contract and his reputation has also taken a slight hit of late too because of the betting scandal.
I don't see this deal happening but I wish we'd have put the 42m Euros on Zirkzee towards Toney personally. He's a proven scorer in this league whereas Zirkzee isn't even a proven scorer in an inferior league.

25 goals in 86 games from play in the PL for Toney. I know it’s Brentford but it’s not exactly groundbreaking.
His strength is his link up play which apparently is Zirkzees strength too.

Probably close to twice the cost of Zirkzee, with a much heftier signing on fee, likely at least double the wages (it has been widely reported that he’s after £250k p/w), and zero resale value by the final two years of his contract.
If it were Zirkzee plus a LB (fees and wages), plus resale value for both players, versus Toney alone, I’d go with the former every day of the week.
How would you set up with Hojlund and Toney both in the side? And if you’re thinking it’s one or the other, how do you reckon that’d go for the party who is sat on the bench every week?

I think Rasmus has something about him but he's miles away from being ready for us and I don't think he was a good use of 72m personally.

Just think it's interesting you substracted his pens to make your point look better. We don't do this with Haaland, Salah and co do we?
Ivan Toney is currently a much better striker than both Rasmus and Zirkzee in my opinion. I think we'd be a better team with him in it.

Just think it's interesting you substracted his pens to make your point look better. We don't do this with Haaland, Salah and co do we?
Ivan Toney is currently a much better striker than both Rasmus and Zirkzee in my opinion. I think we'd be a better team with him in it.
