Ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can’t see him going anywhere, apparently on £70k a week, even if that is halved it’s still fantastic for the Championship. I’d definitely give someone else the number 9 shirt.
Was trying to resist jumping in here but, fck it.
Lincolnshire Lewandowski is one of the reasons we
failed to go straight back up. Waste of resources.
Has any other club at this level, invested so heavily
in players who fail to contribute? Paddy is the poster
child for our still being in the Championship.
Spends more time horizontal on medical beds than
he does on the pitch. He's that good no one wants
him at his ridiculous wages.
We have Orta and Radz to thank for this. I remember when they gave him the new contract he was actually on the sick list and had been for several weeks. I thought at the time it was a ridiculous thing to do but hey, ho, they gave him another 5 years on mega money when he had done sod all for the team that season. And, here we are, 2nd year stuck in the Championship still paying him a fortune and getting very little in return.
No idea what you look like Harte but I'm picturing some bloke kitted out looking like Nora Batty, am I close?
Signed a 5-year deal on the 19th August 2021 after he has just scored 17 Premier League goals in a season to lead us to a 9th place finish.
We had played one game of the 21/22 season losing 5-1 at ManureNited and Bamford played.
I dont recall anyone complaining at England and Leeds United striker Bamford getting a new deal at the time?
Football management is easy with hindsight.

I thought a 5 year deal was a joke at the time.
And on those wages?
Absolute lunacy.
Last seen tucking one away at Middlesbrough with his belly. Never to be seen again with what must have been the worst "bruised knee" in history.
“Bruised knee”
Rob Price leaves club
Says everything
Most of the players at the time got 5 year deals
That was definitely called into question by some including myself at the time so I can accept that the length of contract was too long. Same with Dallas - ended up paying wages for 18 months for nothing

I will assume that this info is correct, so I’ve no idea why I thought he was sick at the time??? I still say with his sickness record it was a ridiculous contract to give him.
Well he would have done better than Kane in the Euros for sure!

Fck off Kebab. I've loathed the guy for a while.

He is fckin g sh 1 te.
Bielsa said screw it I'll use whatever garbage you

Brutal - but true 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The problem with PB is that he looks at football as a hobby, before he has to go and earn a living. Nice enough but no cojones.
Batty's summed him up perfectly to be fair. I assume in training Bamford slams them in from all over the shop. No fans, no pressure. Hence his achievements during the covid Premiership season.
Should have sold him then rather than give him the ridiculous contract.

I only try and make sense of the position on Bamford. We can’t rewrite history with hindsight. 17 premier league goals and an England call up was utterly amazing. You can’t replace that very easily and the sensible decision at the time was to give the players who got us to 9th new deals. We were on a roll. 5 years was too many. It took some players (cooper/dallas/ayling/Klich etc) into their 31/32s and was a mistake - it was explored on here at the time and many felt it was too long.
I’d be very happy if someone came in and took Bamford off our hands - trouble is who?
No club in the championship can afford his 35k champ wages
Not many clubs in the Premier league would need him nor be prepared to risk his wage/injury ratio. At a push you could look at possibly Fulham who look short of strikers. Maybe Forest / Everton but not sure financially they could afford it. Expect it would take 55-60k wages to entice him.
To rip up his contract and release him would would cost at least £3m. Pointless
You’re then looking abroad. Maybe Celtic but not sure what their wage structure is like. Beyond that maybe Turkey?
Other option would be a loan - again maybe Fulham or one of the promoted sides for 1-year?
It’s a very small audience and therefore we are highly likely stuck with him for 2 more years
We have Bamford Piroe Joseph Gelhardt Rutter so no room for any incomings
That’s the honest situation and not a lot we can do about it

Nobody said he was the best number 9 - even in England but Kane’s performance for the whole tournament was shiiite! At least Bamford would have worked the defenders and defended from the front. Kane did neither.
No way am I saying Bamford should have replaced Kane, because I actually know he’s not good enough for top class football these days. What I am saying is that even with his limited ability he would have been a better option than Kane - as are both Toney and Watkins.
Kane looked a shadow of himself the whole tournament and the worrying thing is he was still deemed our best option up front.
I'd honestly rip up his contract. End of situation.
Plus he'd no longer be in the way of Joseph having a crack. Bye bye.
You’d spend £3m+ on releasing him despite our financial situation? We only just squeezed through PSR. It’s possible that we’d have to pay the higher wage bracket which would make it as much as £7.2m! We wouldn’t be able to afford a replacement. Madness imo
If Joseph is good enough then Bamford won’t get in his way.
