Squad update

21 senior players.

A little unbalanced but we do have a few flexible players in the squad who are likely competent to cover other areas at tier2 level.

Hopefully no late sales and we are pretty much ready to go. One more versatile defender maybe?

Looks a decent squad on paper but Summerville is not going to stay, is he.

Lets hope he is. Going to Germany is a positive

You can see why we need players like Rothwell - who have a bit of experience and can hopefully help the youngsters improve. Of the probable match day starters only Bamford is in his 30’s. The likes of him, Piroe, James and Rothwell will hopefully show some leadership when required.

Can’t believe Ampadu is only 23!

We count senior players differently, without a doubt in my mind, Crew will be named in more matchday squads than whoever is third choice keeper so shouldn't he be counted as a senior player or Gnonto and Joseph not.

I think we have 19 senior players and at the moment this leaves space for at least six more signings, permanent or permanent and loan signings.

Why Piroe?

A senior player to me is one that will be involved in the first team. I dont discount players like Gnonto and Joseph who could be starting a lot of games next season.

Because he looks 40:🤣🤣

I think he’s quite experienced but maybe not?

Cairns will travel to every first team game
Crew wont.

At least 6 more signings.........financial suicide. We will have a strict wages budget that will hopefully be enough to get us up but not enough to put us into meltdown should we fail again.

We have 21 players currently available for the first team game. We can only pick 19. Cairns and Gelhardt perhaps miss out. If we get injuries then we promote from the U21s and Crew, Debayo come onto the bench which hopefully brings a youth player through.

If you sign 6 more players where are they all playing?
How would a youth player ever get on the bench with 27 players vying for 19 shirts?

It's starting to look like we have a plan in place.

Right up until you see Bamford is still sucking the
club dry of finances. While giving fck all back. While
conning his fan club into thinking 'He's so fcking
important to this club' vibes. Outside of that soft tw4t,
we're starting to look less square peg united.

Stop being critical of Bamby - I bet you as soon as he's suddenly scoring loads and playing well you'll shut up and think he's great.

Doesn't mean you have to, just have the capacity to be able to do so. Not suggesting for one minute that we would do a Forest.

We do need to add a few more as the squad is still lacking numbers, not sure on your suggestion that somehow Farke will break the habit of a lifetime by playing Debayo, he didn't trust Cresswell last season and was reluctant to use Joseph.

Also based on Harrogate, remain very uncomfortable with the idea that Cairns is our third choice keeper. Darlow's distribution was very poor and whilst he bailed out Ampadu on one occasion, he played us into danger on others. Awful.

Stop being critical of Bamby

He's sh1. te. And massively overpaid.
He deserves it.

He needs a sh1 tload of attempts to get one goal.

Misses sitters more comically than a circus clown.

He did score a few goals behind closed doors when
no one was watching. When the pressure of crowds
were back post covid, he folded like a cheap suit.

------------------------------------------------------------

and playing well

^^^

When he drags himself off the medical table, he needs
about 5 games to get up to speed. Then he has 2 or 3
good games. But, gets injured and misses the next
15 odd games. Rinse repeat.

you'll shut up and think he's great.

Nah. I'm not a sheep.

It's a debating site - Batty can say exactly what he wants with regards to Football.

I for one think on balance, Paddy has been poor value for money.

When he scored that wonder goal in the FA cup you started gushing about how you were wrong and how one goal changed your mind

You would do the same if he started to score.

You're a massive sheep.

Not agreeing or disagreeing on Bamford himself.... just that it ain't a 'debate' when you hear the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over .....

....if my wife did that I'd be telling HER to give it a rest !! Admittedly, she wouldn't take that too well and carry on doing it just to make the point. Suspect that might happen here.

very poor???

played for Leeds for what 6 years?, signed him for what 7 million was it?

instrumental in the Bielsa years.. 3 seasons playing well, and got himself into the England squad.

injury prone for the last couple of seasons.

and prob time to move him on...

no way has he been 'very poor value for money' tho
