Given the outgoing and incoming business, together with the way the manager blew our promotion last season, I have zero confidence in those at the top of the club. Fully expect us to start slow, Farke out by Christmas and an eighth placed finish as we struggle to understand what to do next. And how people are surprised we’ve left it late to sell and later still to bring people in is beyond me - it’s what we always do, year in and year out. And Summerville can go but I hope he does thinking about why he went missing in the most important part of the season last time out, and how he should shoulder some of the blame for that. But he won’t.
How have we not done business early?
Seems people are annoyed that we haven’t replaced players that we haven’t sold yet. Make sense of that.
We had three key problems to fix early in the window.
Fill the void left behind by Rodon.
Add more attacking threat to the right back position.
Add more creativity to midfield.
We’ve done all three.
What we will need to do next is replace any players that are lost. I would like to think that the replacements are already lined up and negotiations are well under way so that if any players do leave they are replaced within a week at most. If this doesn’t happen then it’s not good enough.
But you can’t replace players that haven’t left yet.

Love the optimism - I hope we have got players lined because, in that respect, you are replacing players that haven’t left yet (ie contingency because you expect them to go) - but I bet the majority of fans aren’t as optimistic as you are. Last season being a great point - and been the excuse for Farke not leading the team to promotion. Just can’t see how it’ll be different this time - or ever with Leeds
And it might just be me but I’m not convinced that any of the signings are the magic key to promotion. Would rather we kept and played Cresswell than I would sign Roden (I know that’s a view I’ll get crucified for - but it’s just my opinion).
Guess we’ll see which of us was closest to the truth in the next few days HFIL - hope it’s you tbf!! #MOT

And this is precisely the fear that I have … that it’s left too late to replace them. We shall see.
I can understand your pessimism because of the similarities to last season but I don't see how farke gets blamed for it.
The situation we found ourselves in last season was mostly due to the incompetence of the previous regime.
Farke got some things wrong last year but we had an excellent season under him, 90 points without promotion is hard to take.
It's not easy preparing for the start to the campaign without being sure of who's on the team, and this stems from the transfer window going on for weeks after our first game.
I can't see us losing more than gnonto at this point so we'll just have to cope until we find out one way or another. Imo we're good enough to win the league as is

Ok, couple of points if I may …
Not sure who has blamed Farke? (genuine question - have I missed something?
And, yep, I think Orta et al have well and truly taken the blame for last August (notwithstanding the presence of Marathe) … but they can’t and won’t be able to shift the blame onto anyone else if it happens again this August.

I’m pretty optimistic but that wasn’t the point I was making. I’m specifically talking about doing business early or late.
More money could have spent. A higher profile player could have been bought. I’m not really commenting on the quality of the signings. But the signings that were required were made early. There’s no debating that.
The idea that you can sign players to replace players you might sell is just stupid. The idea that you can only sell players like Summerville at the start of the window is just as stupid.
HaveFaith, totally agree.
Keep saying it but no one is listening.....
We're shopping in the PremierLeague-level market and the EPL ALWAYS do their business late.
So we've a choice. Buy early by shopping lower-level players, or buy-when-available, for the higher level player.
Can't see why people don't get it!
....but also gotta add, that might be just my wishful thinking. We know Archie had to go to bridge the finance gap ending June 24, but wasn't there also a hell of a lot of speculation over the last month or two that we've still got another £70m+ gap we've got to fill by June 2025? If that's the case then maybe we aren't gonna spend much, cos the money from Cre and Red Bull ain't gonna plug that big a gap.
If there's one thing I do want from the 49ers its to ensure they do not leave us in a fire sale situation if we don't get promoted next year. If they overspend this summer and don't go up, we are royally f. *.ck'd
So,Cree had a clause in his contract with a release fee, if that fee was met.
“The fee paid was a release clause triggered by West Ham built into Summerville's Leeds contract pre-49ers Enterprises.”
Ben Jacobs.
Another Orta special - but I imagine any agent who wants the best for their client would insist on this type of clause. The club had the choice not to accept it but then Cree would probably not have signed.
Plus when he did sign it there was probably little indication that he would become player of the season under Farke. £25m+ probably seemed like a distant dream that might never be reached.
We’ve got decent money for him with decent add ons.
I dint think Summerville would make in impact for us, but last season he was brilliant.
Will he cut it in the Prem?
I hope so for his sake.
Overall a good signing for us in terms of what he ultimately delivered and profit we made from him, additionally, think he was a good influence on Gnonto.
Wish him well in his next steps.
