Some people probably do, and that's very sad. But the Apostle Paul did write this:

"Shall we go on sinning, so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?" (Romans 6:1-2)

So a faithful church will be encouraging each other to turn from sin, not continue in it.

Jesus would probably agree with you - if you read the New Testament, the religious people of the day were basically the only people he criticised.

Religion is about following rules to try to get into heaven. Following Jesus is about trusting in him to get into heaven.
