It's a fact though - modern day Arsenal wouldn't exist without that part of their history, at least not in their current guise!

Nothing more than an early day MK Dons!

Ah right so Arsenal way back in the early 20th century something something, but dismiss Roman owning a factory supplying materials for tanks used in an illegal war two years ago.

Cool

Probably not best having the guy supplying materials for tanks in that illegal war owning a football club then yeah?

He made his wealth off the back of being friendly with Putin. He's obviously still pally enough to be involved in the prisoner swap. Let's not forget this is the same Russia that poisoned people, on orders from Putin, on UK soil so blatantly they didn't give a shiite when their operatives were identified.

But let's have the mate of this guy own a football club

We're past football now, you've bought up Evraz supplying the Russian Government for what we both believe is an illegal war and from you're link you've bought up the fact that they have been sanctioned.

Given that you believe the Iraq war was an illegal war, we have a direct parallel with British Steel supplying the UK government to make British Tanks.

I'll ask you direct - should British Steel be sanctioned?

"We're past football now"

No we're not

Mate stop clinging to this. I don't agree with who we (The UK) selectively decide to arm in the world. The British gov obviously disagrees so would never apply sanctions. Who do you think should be sanctioning British Steel?

By your logic were ignoring Romans ownership of Evraz but should sanction British Steel for something 30 years ago

Brum is ignoring this whilst hiding behind whataboutery and the events in the early 20th century or 30 years ago. But we should forget Roman owning Evraz two years ago apparently

Funny thing is, Chelsea were one of the main beneficiaries of the (reported, but not documented) dodgy dealings of Henry Norris.

Apparently BrummieBlue only reads the headlines though.

Can't promise it will help with what you know about bee-keeping, but it will certainly expand your football knowledge.

The last Iraq war, which was deemed illegal, was only 21 years ago but the timeline is irrelevant and has no bearing on the principle.

For the record I don't believe British Steel should have been sanctioned any more than I do Evraz. They're both private companies and both in business to make money, why would it be anymore unusual Evraz selling their produce to the Russian Government than BS selling to the UK Government?

Unless you think that there was a converasation between RA and VP that went along the lines of:

VP: Hey Roman, I'm thinking of invading Ukraine and need to build more tanks to do the job, can you give me a good discount on some Steel?

RA: Hi, Vladimir, what a worthy cause, I'll happily give you a 50% discount because those pesky Ukrainians deserve to have their asses kicked for having the temerity to want to join NATO!

Bottom line is, I don't believe a private company should be sanctioned for how one of their customers uses their goods.

Good to see that hypocrisy is still ruling the boards of JA606 though!
