“Paying for past sins” probably explains most of it.

Yes Stoopo - The previous incumbents plus Mr K, need to partake in some serious penance for this legacy, which unfortunately is proving an ongoing achiles heel.

Your right, what he should say is we have loads of money and are awash with cash.

How many years till we can blame current owners for any problems.

Even with the players you've lost, and I would imagine a couple might still come in although you fellahs will know better than I on that front I've thought you must still be one of the favs to go up?

The teams who dropped down aren't any great shakes and as a neutral I felt you had some bad luck last season or would have got top 2, a good start will help this season

Just dug out this from football finance expert Kieran Maguire on 28/5/24

"When Leeds were in the Premier League they spent £355million over three seasons and a lot of those deals were on credit. That’s perfectly normal, but if you get relegated you’ve not got the cash that is coming in from the Premier League to the same extent.

“At the end of last summer, they owed £190million in outstanding transfer fees, which will have to be settled over 2024 and 2025 and possibly some over 2026 as well so that is more of a cash management issue and that then comes down to the owners.

If Leeds fans thought we can go heavy in the summer transfer market, that enthusiasm might be tempered because they’ve got outstanding football debts to pay and then they’ll have to work out their wage budget over the course of next season.”

A good start would really help. That didn't happen last year because it was an absolute sh!t show with too much to do and little time to do it. While losing our top two players never helps, if it remains as is then without additions we should be there with a shot at autos.
A couple of decent players for depth and were going up as champs.

Yeah I was kind of thinking that we wouldn't have that much to spend. Fortunately I don't think we have to. Just hold on to Willie, uh Gnonto.

We’ve not lost our top two players though. Summerville definitely in the top two but Gray definitely wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong he’s going to be a great player but he’s not a player who would change a game for us.

Interesting Spurs fans saying today that he’s not a number 6 for them yet.

Yeah I guess your right stoopo. Just the way I see it Archie would have become the better player in the long run. Kind of a disservice to rutter and ampadu as to best players from last year

A couple more quality signings needed now even if they are EPL loan deals to take the sting out of Summerville and Gray leaving which however you try and dress it up it does make us feel sad that we couldn't hang onto them and it would be quite ironic that Gnonto who we all assumed was leaving actually stays and ends up having a cracking season for us.

Interesting to see in club's statement on Cry leaving that they said "a clause had been triggered". Hopefully Rutter doesn't have something similar in his contract.

Even with a clause, ultimately it's upto the player if he decides to leave though isn't it?
Funny, we can all see that Cre and Gnonto are the types to go, but think we believe Georgi wouldn't 🤷‍♂️. But hey, throw any person a massive amount of dosh and glamour and they're gone, aren't they?

But we’d been told paying monies this summer was t a problem.

We’ve sold 80m plus of players, we’ve got parachute payments, biggest sponsorship deal in division, wealthiest owners ever etc etc yet we put out these messages all the time.

We have not done our business early if we knew selling Somerville and a week before season starts have no replacement.

I fully expect a couple of prem loanees who tell us the moment they heard Leeds were in for them it was a no brainer blah blah blah.

A horrible thought as to how things would be now if the 49ers hadn't taken us over!..

Orta, Cellino, Bates, feck, at least we now have someone here that are doing their bit to sort things out, a shame they weren't here before Bates!..

Seeing Cree beaming in a West Ham shirt has really put a dampener on my mood. Yes, I knew it was coming but it still hurts. The sense of foreboding atm is massive.

Players come and go - it’s a fact of life.

Only Civil Servants stay in the same job for life because they are well paid, have great pensions and are boring tawts!

Life goes on and the club made him what he is today. We should be proud he’s acknowledged that in his post on X.

Yes he will be missed but others can step in now and hopefully make a name for themselves.

Chin up 👍

But he never said we owe £355m 🤦

It was £190m as of june 2023.

Since over £150m worth of players have been sold.
