He's had two seasons in the PL with Sheff Utd and Burnley so there's been plenty of chances to watch him.
He's a decent enough player but he's not someone I expected a team trying to get back into CL places would go after.
Money is clearly tight this summer. No CL income and a real struggle to offload the deadwood.
Relegated with both Sheffield United and Burnley. Completely average player
We normally get linked to him every summer and winter
Surprised at this...I remember 5 or 6 years ago he was touted as some kind of wonder kid, just assumed he fell off since he ended up at Sheff Utd/Burnley.
No idea how he's been playing for them. Definitely a recruitment team signing though, which is the way we need to start going.
We should be going after his brother, Bæcan Berge, instead.
He’s not nearly as gritty, but he’s a much, much tastier prospect.
If we moved on the likes of Casemiro and Eriksen I’d have no problem with us bringing in Berge as a cheap squad player. He’s decent and relatively young.
If he’s one of our main midfield signings I’d be worried.

He'd team up well with Rashers.
Eriksen will leave before the window shuts. Probably get £3-5m for him tops.
I think Sancho will leave too even if that means another loan. Hopefully we can sell him though.

Even getting something like £30m plus add-ons for Sancho would help a lot. Otherwise, it’ll have to be a loan I think.

The fk
Not sure if it's true, but I'm seeing this:
Top 5 midfielders with HIGHEST passing accuracy for long balls in the PL 23/24 season (over 100 attempts):
1) — Rodri = 84.8% (340/401)
2) — SANDER BERGE = 81.2% (125/154)
3) — Caicedo = 76.5% (124/162)
4) — Amadou Onana = 73.9% (85/115)
5) — Enzo = 71.8% (196/273)
Should give the team some much needed grit
He's not really a DM. Likes to take the ball forward and pass the ball. He's not a ball winning monster and never has been.
As back up player it's fine but we really need to put all available funds into getting a world class DM surely?
From Wikipedia:
“Berge comes from a basketball-playing family…”
Should be a perfect fit for Hagball
Would we, for example, be happy with Berge and Ugarte (because I think we may go back in later on in the window) if we moved on Eriksen and McT? It'd be a PSR profit I believe. Perhaps use Sancho as a sweetener in the Ugarte deal?

I think Berge would probably be replacing Amrabat in the squad.
Maybe the transfer team has decided/realised that Casemiro is going to be staying for one more season and that it’s best to wait until next summer to replace him given the rest of the work we have to do on the squad? (Not saying I’d agree with that approach.)
For me, Mount should be picking up most of the work that Eriksen did last season. But I could see us keeping one or both of Eriksen and McT as bench option players.
This is the worst window of my life

I can’t speak for Berge, but Ugarte > McT and Eriksen combined.
Remember when Anrabat was supposed to be better than Rice because he supposedly outplayed him in one game that Fiorentina lost

Yeah, I used McT and Eriksen as they're our players currently. If we did sign Berge we'd have Mainoo, Eriksen, Casemiro, McT, Mount, Berge plus youth for the midfield spots. Not great options really but I'm hoping that what we're trying to do is get at least a functional midfield that can enable the forwards and defence to do their jobs. Perhaps like Liverpool did with Wijnaldum, Henderson and Fabinho. When they started out plenty said we had a better midfield than them at the time.
Where do we see Mainoo eventually ending up playing?
Will we only see the best of him in a proper three man midfield? As much as I like him I don't think he's quite good enough to carry a season in a two man midfield yet.

Rice played a game in the Euros where he completed only one forward pass in 90 mins mate. You had your pants pulled down.
But yeah Amrabat is crap so you're not completely wrong.

I agree.
I think we would see the best of him in a midfield 3 either side of a DM.
Can’t see that happening as long as Bruno is at the club though.
