Last year (as we all know) we conceded far to many set pieces and were wasteful with chances created

Really hopeful the big Serbian lad will help plus a pre-season working on the set pieces will address this.

In terms of taking chances we did look more dangerous from our own set pieces and Anderson definitely helps, but still some work to do here

Totally agree with Chile that first 3 games are opportunities to get our teeth into and get some early points on the board

I think that Sels honeymoon period will be over this season; Turner makes him look good, the Turner farce is fading though now. Sels unfortunately doesn't keep out anything that is difficult to stop/tip over the bar.

Welcome back guys, and like you i think/hope we will have a less nervy season than the last two.
I don’t usually watch friendlies, but made an exception for the Olympiacos game, and glad i did.
We pretty much controlled the game, and apart from conceding at the end (mainly too give respectability to the score for the home team), we were pretty good, even at set pieces.
We’ve got some good additions to the squad, and hopefully another couple, a keeper and a striker, before the window closes, both of the above are required but NOT absolutely essential, yet.
Looking forward to the Muff game, and actually feel quite positive for the outcome, not disappointed to not be facing Solanke, as i think he is a decent player, not sure he’s worth £65m, but still a decent player. He is a definite loss to the Muff.
I guess Wood will start, as Taiwo lacks pre-season minutes, again, and will probably come on for the last 20 mins or so, by which time I’m hopeful we’ll be a couple of goals to the good.
An early goal, for us, would really settle us down and allow us to play the sort of game we played in the last friendly.
As long as we defend set plays properly i see us winning this, probably by a couple of goals most likely 3-1.
It’s a season i am hoping we actually show progression and strive for at least a mid table finish.
MGW will be key and again, hopefully, he will chip in with a few more goals this term.
Although we must take it ‘one game at a time’, we have a start to the season that should yield a good points total, 7 would be a very nice building block.

Seeing Luton and the Sheep get thrashed in the opening weekend is very satisfying 😉

Good morning everyone, it's good to be back. The break has really dragged despite having the euros and the olympics to watch. I hope you have all had a good summer.

The club seems to have had a good summer given the activity in the transfer market which has all been good. Opening day is finally here. We have managed to keep our key players (so far) and have made some good looking additions.

Today's match seems to have come at a good time. 'muff have lost a couple of good players (Cook and Solanke) so I think they will be weaker. I can't see them scoring today.

We have looked good in pre-season. Milenkovic an upgrade, Anderson looks good and finally Sangare looks like the player we hoped he would be.

Pundits have been writing us of as possible relegation candidates but we will prove them very much wrong.

I think the team already picks itself pretty much at the moment; the only discussion to be had is around the two CMs. Today I would go for Sangare and Danilo.

My score prediction Forest 3-0 winners. Payback time.

Horrible, heartbreaking injury for Danilo

Lads have responded well, Yates and Williams contributing. Game is in the balance in all honesty

It didn't sound good from the commentary, but he was conscious when stretchered off at least.

From the replay that I saw, it looks like a sprained ankle at best, a broken fibia or tibia at worst. Not caused by the 'Muff player I must add, just planted studs by Danilo.

Let's just hope it's just a flesh wound...

I think a draw was a fair result TBF...

Looks like we've come out of the with three injuries. Danilo, Aina and Williams. That is two full backs. Not very happy with that.

Danilo confirmed as broken ankle.

Agree draw was fair, always a bit frustrating to concede late but second half we didn't do enough.

Still plenty of positives to move forward with

Too many similarities to last season for me.
Couldn’t string to consistent halves together, had good spells of possession but weren’t clinical enough, and for some bizarre reason, Nuno thinks that if we are 1-0 up at half time, we should sit back and try to see the game out. Add to that we tired noticeably from 70 minutes, and a couple of poor tactical substitutions when replacing both wingers, with midfield players.
Wood worked really hard, Taiwo should have done better with a late header and also a reluctance to shoot again on several occasions.
The first half offered an insight of how good we can potentially be, the second showed we have an awful lot of work to do.
It’s also refreshing to say that i thought the officials had a decent game and got most decision correct.
It’s something like 8 years since we last won on the opening day, today really was a chance to put that stat to bed.
I have to agree that a draw was probably about the correct result, purely because Muff stayed in the game, and we weren’t clinical enough to take it away from them by scoring a second.
I really feel for Danilo who was really unfortunate in picking up his injury, it was no ones fault, just one of those things that happen in football.
It was obvious from the refs reaction, of all people, who i happened to be watching at that time, that it was a bad injury, but within seconds of it happening he had summoned on the medical staff.
Here’s hoping Danilo makes a speedy and successful recovery and we see him in the Garibaldi again before the end of the season.
