Good to get some strength in this area. Maybe we could have got other positions sorted but you can't say we haven't been spending money lately between this and last summer. On paper I'd say it's our best, most established striker signing since probably Soldado.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our best striker signing since Soldado? I mean there's damning with faint praise if ever I heard it......
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On paper I said. Soldado was a flop and a disaster but at the time we were getting a 59 goals in 101 games striker from a decent La Liga side. Solanke probably not even that good, on paper. But more worthy than others we've splashed money on since who have come from weaker leagues or are just fringe quality.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I do get it, it's just funny when it's worded as 'our best striker signing since Soldado'.
Let's hope he's a lot more successful!

Hard not to be. He has the advantage of already being used to the PL. I think that was a problem for Soldado.

Bakayoko
never seen him play but looks good in videos
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was a standout for PSV the 4 times we played them in the last couple of seasons.
Only games i've seen him but he looked a proper player, real handful and rapid.
Not a signing that gets my pulse racing (I don't know why strangely) but he does make sense. Good attributes, has scored PL goals, has been at big clubs & fits Ange's system.
Hopefully it puts a rocket up Richie's ar5e ! Being Brazil's number 9 doesn't count for much in the PL and the competition for places can only help the overall squad.
Hoping Solanke is one of those players who grows on you/ surprises and doesn't start with massive weight and expectation on his shoulders (though a record fee (for what that's worth, makes it hard)
Would love another wide option but can't see it now. I suspect another MF might be on the cards, wonder whether Skipp might drop to a smaller PL club for more minutes, and we'll be in need of another one in the middle

Love how people pick up on this - I predict us to win it a day after Iceland beat us in a friendly - we make the final and lose and people act like I got it horribly wrong.
Yet no khunt predicted Spain and most had England going out in the quarters
I won a lot of money on those euros, we’re talking thousands, with my predictions

I don't normally like signing players his age but I do think it's probably for the best that we're picking up one of these types each season if all our other transfers are in that 18-22 range
Maddison last season, Solanke this one - makes sense to support that youth with some proven PL talent. not making the same mistake Chelsea are doing

Try not to think so much. When you do, you tend to come outlandish statements and left with egg on your face.
I don't have a hard on for Levy as much as you do. You like to mention him alot. I save my energy on other things 👍🏻.
As for the price of Solanke. It's alot of money. Probably paying around £15m too much but prem proven(even if it is only one season) and reaching his peak years.
As with all transfer he is a risk and our record of buying players over £55m is not great.
