Not that impressed thus far, as I'm not sure we know how to play with an out and out CF. I don't think we've actually got to the by line and sent over any crosses.

Playing with a back 4 and sometimes 5 with Lemina dropping back. RAN playing some nice touches, but they're all around the half way line. I'd like to see him further forward. Stand out player for me has been Lemina, but we're still paying too many backward passes for my liking. Not seeing any evidence that we are more of an attacking threat with 4 at the back.

Changes at HT I'm sure and saw a few warming up before HT.

Against this side, I'd prefer a back 3 with wing backs.

Well, that's a game we best forget. Pretty much like the back end of last season, with no real threat in the final third. Lemina went off with what looked like a slight hamstring.

If we're going to play with a #9, then we need to give him more service than he had today. He made some good runs, but for some reason he never got the ball and was taken off with about 25 mins left.

My man of the match was Mosquera who hardly put a foot wrong and is proving to be the player I thought he'd be when I first saw him play out here.

If Hwang gets 5 goals this season, we'll be lucky and I really don't see what GON see's in him. Hard to find players who impressed, but apart from Mosquera, I thought Lemina and Rodrigo Gomes were the best of the bunch.

Sorry, but I just don't see a back 4 working this season.

Really missed the penetration of Cunha today. If Neto is going, we are going to need him back asap.

The Toti / Mosquera partnership is going to take time to bed in. We could concede a few at Arsenal.

Cunha is our biggest loss when he is out by far for me. More so than Neto.

As for a back four, meh, we have played it plenty the last few years and not looked too bad at all but it is the in thing to say we are dreadful with it.

Only back four concern for me is whether it gets the best out of one of our key players Ait-Nouri. It probably doesn't but if Ait-Nouri goes on his runs forward then Lemina/JG would no doubt cover that presumably anyway. so no crisis.

One Nil flattered us a bit, they could have had another in the closing minutes. The lack of creativity bears a worryingly similar resemblance to the end of last season.

How's the Toti - Mosquera partnership looking?

We’ll know a bit more at 5pm on Saturday

Be foolish to expect too much next Saturday but a relatively solid performance would be nice.

I for one was impressed with them both and to touch on what cinci posted, we're not getting the best out of RAN. He has skill and it's wasted when he's playing LB. Didn't get forward much in the first half.

One of things we have missed is the cross field passing of Neves. Well today, Mosquera showed that he can do the same thing with some great passes out to Rodrigo.

We had a lot of possession, but we are still playing negative football with far too many balls both backwards a sideways and we certainly miss Cuhna and if continue to play 4-2-3-1 then Larsen needs more service than he got today. He works hard and makes some decent runs, but to no avail.

Sarabia is an interesting one. Very skilful player but not really suited to our general style of breaking and getting the ball forward quick. Seems when he plays, we are slower in general and then throw in Hwang who is just plain mediocre in every facet of his game outside of hustling the opposition and our forward play is greatly diminished.

Would play Doyle in the middle with JG and Lemina next week and lose one of Sarabia or Hwang and go 4-3-3 unless a back 3 is on the table for that one.

Sure most are aware but Semedo is banned for the first 3 games by the way.

No idea why Mosquera is getting praise. He was really poor today. Looked nervy in possession and vulnerable defensively. It was alarming how a few of the players making their Molineux debuts today were well off it. Strand Larsen was ineffective and needs to put himself about much more. And Rodrigo was good in parts but generally disappointing. All these three showed in America they can be much better but today they weren’t on their games at all. As a team if we play like today at Arsenal we’ll get hammered. Our possession was far too slow and we didn’t press Vallecano at all

I do think there’s cause for concern going into the new season. Defensively I don’t think a central defence of Mosquera and Toti is as solid as a central defence of Kilman, Dawson and Toti. In attack, whoever we select will not be as strong as a forward line that included Neto and Cunha. So to my mind we go into the season with a weaker defence and attack than we had in the first half of last season.

We need to spend the Neto money wisely
