His camp german accent is starting to grate on me
I think the hangover from last season's gutting failure to achieve promotion is still very much on everyone's mind and so it was vital the ghosts of that nightmare were excorcised quickly and efficiently and a fresh new start was instigated with a line drawn underneath the past
disappointing chapter by at least doing all of our transfer
business early even allowing for the inevitable big name
departures I for one expected a competent contingency
plan put into practise with all our player targets and
funds for said targets in place well before the new
season kicked off giving Farke a settled strong united squad but sadly we are not much better placed than we
were 12 months ago scrambling around for bargain
deals and transfer deadline day loans despite assurances to the contrary from the owners that that chaotic first month from last season wouldn't be repeated and lessons would be learnt blah blah blah.
Unfortunately and I hope Im wrong but I sense all is not
right behind the scenes and the loyal supporters are
once again being let down massively, deceived, fobbed
off and ultimately rinsed left right and centre, but
nevertheless I will try and be a little more patient and not
think our heirarchy are another grifting regime before I
completely lose faith and trust in them but I think we all need to see action and not words to alley all our concerns and not what is starting to resemble a striking likeness to the Ken Bates school of economics and aboutfaquery...Hope as always springs eternal especially when you support Leeds Unired.

Says No panic
then gives a host of reasons to panic.
His camp german accent is starting to grate on me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What reasons? I can’t see anything that he said that makes me panic.
He wants the right players. They have to fit his style and the club ethos. He doesn’t want loans if we can get permanents.
We all know by now that the club won’t spend a fortune on players and risk fair play problems in the future.
There's part of me wondering if the 49'ers are playing a really long game.
Here's my thinking - If we had been promoted we would have had to strengthen and the debt would have increased somewhat - i.e way way past 190 M. Could this be sustained, as our best players would not have been / be sold?
Are the 49er's purposely staying in the EFL to clear the debt asap by offloading playing assets, whilst identifying players that will cut the mustard in this league, then making a clear attempt at promotion without being saddled with the Senor Orta Legacy. - I know it's a bit out there but just a wild thought.
...just to clarify - they re-thought the strategy after the Wembley debacle.
I’ve not followed much since last season, just been catching up on the talk on here the last week.
I respect everyone’s opinions on here but I really think people need to calm it down a bit, we’re a game in and the transfer window hasn’t closed. It’s like with Leeds United we can either have perfection (which is very rare) or disaster.
My view - the squad which just got 90 points is in a slightly weaker position due to losing Summerville but we also have 2 weeks left to replace him., Gruev, Kamara, Anthony were all signed towards end of last August, there is time. However, we are stronger than we were this time last year when we were starting Shackleton and Gelhardt and wasted the first 5 games.
Best, I'm going to modify your last sentence:
We are stronger than we were this time last
year when we were starting Shackleton and
Gelhardt and still we wasted the first game.
^^^
That's my frustration. We don't seem to have learned
a lot since Wembley. The bean counters seem to be
taking centre stage right now, fixing our finances.
That's holding up our recruitment. And time's ticking.
Add to that (and to borrow from Stoopo's post):
Farke wants the right players.
^^^
I hope they have their right targets all lined up.
With clearance from those clubs to sign.
Because time's ticking.
They have to fit his style.
^^^
I hope they've done their homework on their
targets to guarantee they do fit his style.
No more Piroe-type signings. I like the player.
But, he just doesn't seem to fit Farke.
...and the club ethos.
^^^
See style comment. This one might be harder
to identify in a player. Djed Spence seemed
like a bang up signing. Until the 'ethos' part
started to look very poor.
He doesn’t want loans.
^^^
Then we're waiting on Prem teams to set their
rosters. That happens soon. But, eats away more
time on our clock for our recruitment deadline.
...if we can get permanents.
^^^
If he wants permanents, then he's not hampered
by Prem teams trying to set their rosters. Unless
he's targeting current Prem players. If that's the
case, then all of his criteria for a signing gets much
more complicated as you now have to convince the
player to drop down to the Championship.
Then to borrow from LIW's post:
Says No panic
then gives a host of reasons to panic.
^^^
In that case, LIW's right, IMO.
This panic is now being felt by a large section
of fans, me included.
"We all know by now that the club won’t spend
a fortune on players and risk fair play problems
in the future." - then add this to the mix.
Sensible approach. That makes Farke's asks
borderline impossible with time ticking away.
What's to panic about? Some of you girls need to calm down. Fluke of a first game and all hell breaks loose
I sincerely hope you are right Best and I know it's only one game in but with the memory of last season's late collapse, Farke's bizarre substitutions, Meslier's poor letting in of shots on target ratio, left back and centre forward shortcomings still not addressed and rumours of more star player exits it just feels that even if we'd had won on Saturday it would just be papering over more concerning longterm issues that are being repeated again and again.
Sorry to keep repeating myself but I get a very bad vibe about what's going on at the club and unless there is some definite quality new signings before the window closes and no more player exits I certainly can't see us finishing above Shef Utd and Burnley and even top 6 is going to be a struggle.
We Leeds fans are used to adversity and know when and how to smell a rat and until actions speak louder than words I am now doubtful and wary of the clubs serious intentions and ability to get promotion which a few weeks before the new season started I never imagined I'd be writing this especially after Red Bull got on board and I hope to God it's not all smoke and mirrors because to be honest I don't have the appetite to witness another flattering to deceive sort of season...I can't be arrrrsed at my age with all that bs and quite frankly I'm bored with all the politics and shenanigans unrelated to on field matters and all this fair play profit financial restriction ballllox is suffocating the enjoyment of the game.
Cajauste who we were linked to us and Brentford in the prem ended up at Napoli, he was set to join Brentford yesterday but it fell apart at the last minute as some terms couldn't be agreed. Loan with a 10 mil obligation. Why are we not all over that? He's 25 and highly rated CM for 10 mil, get in there and try ffs. We'd rather sign Alex Mowatt no doubt.
People were saying "Don't panic" early last season & then they were saying it again as the season ended on such a low. "Don't panic, there's still the play-offs".
Sometimes fans worry for no reason, other times their collective 6th senses are right. Let's hope it's the former 👍

Great point and too easily brushed aside
Quite often, as a Leeds fan, it can feel like
we're on the deck of the titanic pointing and
shouting that there's an ice berg right ahead.
Meanwhile the crew are rearranging chairs.
One of the richest owners in teh world, host of high profile additional investors, huge red bull investment, over 100 mill of revenue from sales in last 12 months.
I think we have every right to be expecting more from these owners.
It's same pattern every year, same trite excuses, same old line of we only want players that will improve the squad blah blah blah.
Our prem loans rarely make an impact and rarely want to stay on.
Our business is generally done far too late in the windows.
It doesn't matter how much money comes in, we're effectively told there's no money to spend.
I dont think anyone in their right mind is expecting us to sell 120m of players and then to spend 120m.
But we're not expecting us to spend 10m and a loanee or 2.
I'm sure we will bring in more players but they really need to be players that we want and make a difference rather than Piroe type signing that really felt it was done to placate the fans.
Farke has his issues, but I like him and think 49ers do too, so I dont think he's too much under threat, but we hear far too much about this league being weaker than last season, those coming down not as strong as Leicester were etc, but this is the most difficult league in the world to get out of year after year and we have weaker squad than last year whilst all around have strengthened.
I dont know who these players are that will fit the systems, because, I dont know what the system is except for pass it around slowly a bit and then hope we can wriggle past 10 defenders in the box and then bring on every forward on 70 minutes.
I genuinely want Farke to succeed, but at this point this season looks remarkably that same as a start to last season.
By hook or by croook lets get past Boro and then an away win at weekend puts a different complexion on things, but the key issue right now is recruitment and building a stronger squad.
Yep Batty and it's something we have seen over multi-year period. Whether it's not strengthening from a position of strength after a 9th place finish in the EPL, it's getting relegated with a side that really shouldn't have, going into the 2023/24 winter transfer window and adding one right back and the side running around in the last 9 games.
Yes it's too early to panic but absolutely not too early to critically analyse what has gone wrong before, issues to address and how we'll get the essential top place needed this season. Faith is admirable, crossing the line to something beyond that is naive.
Here's another wrinkle regards recruitment:
Are the club/49ers getting cold feet on Farke?
Second year of a four year contract. Doubt they're
panicking over him. But, do they look at signings
that Frake wants and think "well player X fits his
system perfectly. However player Y could fit more
systems and therefore would be a player our next
manager could use and like."
Owners at some point have to consider 'the next
manager' when signing players if they have a shred
of doubt over the current one.
As I said earlier, I’m going to hold my fire hoping that we don’t make the same mistakes that we did last August. Some excellent point made above👍.
… and I’m not ignoring the fact that of our 23-man 1st team squad, 3 are essentially u-21/23(?) players and another 3 are keepers.
There's a stat doing the rounds that claims of all
the european clubs, Leeds have sold the second most players? Could mean generated second highest sales
revenue. If this is true, we must be in some deep
financial mud seeing as though our signings are next
to non existent so far.

Just listening to DF on LUTV talking about how our XG against us statistic under him is top class. It is a pity the actual goals scored against us is not

Doesn’t my after how rich the owners are they still have to operate under fair play rules.

Just listening to DF on LUTV talking about how our XG against us statistic under him is top class. It is a pity the actual goals scored against us is not
