No doubt fulham will turn up against us and you guys, then lose 9-0 over two games against Man City again. They are a disgrace to the PL

Onana

Mazraoui
Maguire
Martinez
Dalot

Casemiro
Mainoo

Amad
Zirkzee
Garnacho

That's the team I'd like to see.

We'll also win by a few goals too. The feelgood factor is back and I'm expecting another signing before KO tomorrow too.

You seem a bit overconfident with that lineup

Bruno is god. So Omnipresent.

Didn’t they have Palinha then, who’s left? He was their best midfielder by far. Dominant against most of his opponents. Our system was so easily exposed. Though even against poorer midfields (on paper) so hopefully some tactical adjustments can make up partly for the lack of new faces in there currently.

Funny thing is Palinha was suspended for that game. The mighty Reed and Lukic started in midfield

No Garnacho OP. or Zirkzee ?

I’ll be honest I forgot Garnacho existed even though apart from Bruno he’s our best player. Editing now.

Zirkzee will not start the game 52, he has not kicked a ball for us yet.

I think it’ll be the same team that started against City.

Almost picks itself barring the fullback question, namely is Mazraoui ready, and if so, does he play left or right? If not, might we see De Ligt with Maguire, Martinez at LB again, and Dalot pushing into midfield? Although I’d rather not have Martinez at LB, it’d give us quality options for distribution from the back.

It’ll be one of Garnacho and Rashford, and I think Rashford gets the nod based on the games he has under his belt and his pre-season performances, which have been pretty strong.

Nacho from the bench second half for either of the starting wingers depending on how the game is going.

Forgot that Jonny Evans existed for a moment (the SHAME!).

Yeah, could be the same lineup. Front six should be the same, anyway.

I’m hoping we’ll see Mazwowwee come in so that Lissy can move back to cb. Lissy doesn’t look comfortable at lb where his ball carrying makes it harder for him building up play.

I think he will go Amad, Rashford, Garnacho

Doubt he will drop either Rashford or Amad after a full pre season.

will be curious to see if you use this more pragmatic approach ten hag has been using recently or if that was more so about City and you'll go back to playing man to man all over the pitch and conceding 20 shots against everyone else

Hopefully somewhere in between

Looking at the signings, I hope he builds from the back, focuses on trying to keep clean sheets.

very unusual situation you're in where you're hoping for a completely changed style of play at the start of a new season but you've kept the same manager

This.

Amazed to see a few saying Zirkzee should start. He wasn't even given any mins at Wembley so he can't be fully ready. He's played zero mins in all pre season so if be amazed if he starts. Probably get a 20 min cameo.

I'm stating I'd like to see him start to see what he can do from there. I know he's unlikely to considering Ten Hag eases players in.

Having said that what has happened to putting your new singings straight in there. Surely he's got up to some kind of decent fitness by now.

I don’t think it’s meant to be or going to be that different - we’re still going to be a transition team, first and foremost.

The differences are mainly incremental and building on what we saw at the end of last season: a more concerted (and hopefully smarter) counterpress, and a higher defensive line to help the midfield out with the huge gaps in behind.

Starting with 10 men, brave...

Or is Antony at #10 so obvious there's no need to add his name?

I’m not even convinced Zirkzee has played a single minute of professional football

He's played about 8 mins since May. He only got called up to Dutch squad as a last second replacement too. Probably would have been better for us had he not gone at all.

I suspect we will see him come off bench for first few games. I'd be astonished if he starts any of our first three games especially as Liverpool is one of those games.
