Piroe looked pretty decent as a stiker in the play offs v Norwich. Was awful in the final though. For me hes simply not a number 10. A number 10 needs to be involved in the game setting up and creating chances like Pablo used to do. He might play as a second stiker if we played 2 up top but hes not a traditional number 10 i dont care what anyone says.

Piroe & Rutter developed a good understanding very early last season & for me that should have remained the basis for our central attacking play.

But Farke introduced our infamous number 9 & Piroe consequently seemed to lose confidence & form.

I don't care what anyone says, if you score around 20 goals in this league in consecutive seasons, as Piroe did for a poor Swansea, you have something about you - whether you're deemed a striker, number 10 or whatever. The lad can finish & should be around the opposition penalty area as often as possible. He's not suited to playing as deep as Farke played him last season, he lost the ball a lot as a consequence. Crazily at times he was even receiving the ball from the centre-backs. He comes alive in the box & that's where his focus should be no matter what his position is deemed to be.

I think Piroe would thrive from a change in coach. And that may well be just around the corner.

Just to add I agree Piroe was awful in the play-off final. But Southampton went to 3 at the back & Piroe was woefully outnumbered every time he went near the ball. Farke failed to address this & was tactically outdone for the 3rd time by the same opposition.

I think Piroe is a decent player.

BUT, how are we creating chances for him now?

Where will he play.

And really, it felt like he was only bought to shut fans up towards end of window as fans were restless.

New signings are clearly needed but in the meantime Farke has to come up with ideas to get the best out of what we have.

At the moment I'd play Piroe as a 2nd striker with Joseph with Gelhardt coming off the bench & Bamford sat in the stands.

We signed Piroe because he'd scored 40 in 2 seasons at this level. He wasn't a punt, he's a goalscorer.

Got to agree, think Joel is a good player, just not used correctly by Farke or doesn't fit the system - whatever that is now?

He was a goal machine for Swansea and you can guarantee, if he leaves, he will be again.

At times his partnership with Rutter looked very promising.

Get the guy in the areas where he is most likely to prosper as often as you can. Many of his goal are where someone squares it and he is running on to it and hits low finishes or it drops for him and he gets a shot away. Not a coach but just from watching him they are his strengths and pressing, playing from deeper etc weaknesses. He could be a key player for us if used in the right way and in right circumstances and bag c15-20 goals.
