Money innit.
They also seem intent of alienating pretty much every English player sign before the new owners if rumours are to be believed.
Chilwell and Sterling to follow.
Are you suggesting there is some type pre Abramovic player cleansing going on for cash?
sorry i will rephrase that pre Bohley *
Gallagher counts as home grown - so his value can be used for PSR purposes immediately.
Felix on the other hand, his cost will be spread over the years of the contract to a max of 5 years for PSR purposes.
So Chelsea can help themselves by buying Felix which in turn gives Atletico the money they need to buy Gallagher. The only downside of course is that your getting a player that has already failed at Chelsea and I would imagine he is on decent wages
Super, super Todd
I will give him a standing ovation when you lot rock up at ours this season - he is doing the lords work

Probably salaries too, there was a lot of noise about wanting to get the average wage bill down when they joined.
Tbh, it looks like a plan drawn up by people who have absolutely no idea about football. Like, at all.
I mean do they think that, as novices in the game, they’ve somehow found a transfer formula that EVERYONE else in football somehow hasn’t thought of?
Where does the actual funding come from for the transfers? I'm sure the club has never generated such a surplus of cash to be able to pay for these transfers.
So, is it the case that the ownership are asset stripping- leveraging the assets of the company to load the club with astronomical levels of debt to build some type of highbred mid table outfit.?

They are trying to build a CL talent farm - I.e. a side that qualifies for the CL whilst improving young players and selling them on
Sterling is rightly plssed off. The guy was part of the clubs plans until we have been forced to buy Felix.
For Fck sake you couldnt write this story

that’s was the plan
What they didn’t realise is that they had mostly bought shiete or average players.
It will be Cole Palmer being sold next summer if you don’t make the CL
TLLL, this is not going to end well for them, meanwhile we have to stand by and watch them totally make mugs out of the club and badge
Imo , if they keep fckn up at the rate they are going, I really dread to think where we will be in 2/3 seasons.

Hopefully with the sanctions from the authorities you will be league 1 but eventually recover to your normal level pre 90’s of being a Prem/Champ yo-yo club with robin reliants parked behind the goal
Thats harsh, we moved on from Robin reliants behind the goal
ok, the thread seems to moving in the wrong direction
Can someone please explain to me exactly what is the point of this transfer? from purely a football/ competitive perspective?

Chelsea owners seemed hell-bent on getting rid of Gallagher no matter what.
Atletico could only fund the transfer if they got transfer income of their own.
So Chelsea obliged by buying a player who wasn't a great success when he was on loan and has more often than not flattered to deceive.
Bonkers.
Bonkers is a reasonable description
Felix is a decent player, but we already have players who can play his position and his introduction creates problems for the squad size?
There is not a in any rational strategy one single good reason to isolate Sterling in such away that will not come at huge expense to the club, it is totally baffling.
£46m transfer fee for Felix.
