Fully expect the 49ers to announce a two year
extension for Bamford just before the window
shuts to get all the fans giddy.

Dennis in all seriousness whoever is responsible for Leeds's transfer incoming negotiations should be declared unfit for purpose and at least put on the naughty step.

Batts I really do think the only logical explanation for the lack of new transfers is The 49ers are asset stripping before they announce on Sept 1 a handover to Red Bull.
If it's not that we'd have seen a marquee signing way before now and the owners silence speaks volumes so we all patiently wait for some positive exciting news as the clock keeps ticking and Friday night is looking like a potential banana skin which if we do lose then I definitely expect Gnonto to leave if he doesn't anyway.
Footballing Gods please give us Leeds fans some good positive and hopeful news.

I'm starting to think the issue is Farke.

Fairly sure his last season with Norwich he took a very
active role in player recruitment. It went badly. He got
sacked. What if he's being presented with options that don't fit his overly needy criteria? Too many cooks and
a picky diner and all that.

posted 4 weeks, 2 days ago

Right I shall check in here again around 5pm ish in the hope we have announced at least one new decent signing. I'm not that confident things will have changed much but you never know.

It should be a no brainer for many players to come to Leeds.

Great facilities
Great stadium to play at
Huge support home and away
Money should mean deals, wages, services all top notch
Club ambitious trying to get promoted
Decent manager
Supposedly stable owners

However, its visible to all that players want away.
How is Farke viewed by players
Do players really feel Leeds have a genuine chance

So, overall, we surely should have enough pulling power, but it feels to me like we're looking at bargain basement and still trying to get them cheaper, it's just how it feels, and that, is down to owners.

After playoff final I thought, we're going to lose a couple but will give it proper go next season and with full preseason of new players together, Farke should be cert to get us up.

But we haven't had a full pre season of players together and Farke must be feeling like those seasons in Prem where he just wasn't supported.

There are thousands of players out there, the fact we've signed hardly anyone and spent hardly anything speaks volumes about the true ambitions of our club at present.

The owners are either asset stripping before selling.
Or, clueless as a football organization. They still have
time to dispel both, and actually pull off miracles in
what's left of the transfer window.

Surely asset stripping just reduces the value of the club? I can’t understand that argument at all.

It’s like having your house valued at £500k then selling the kitchen, bathroom and garage and expecting someone to pay £500k.

Unless RB have told them to sell players, take the cash out to repay whatever they’ve loaned the club and then they will buy it at market value after the sales have been ratified.

That sounds rather far fetched and just a little dodgy though. Surely everything has to go through the books and needs to be above board.

You never know in football though - look at the trouble Chelsea are in right now.

^^^

So you've basically just derailed your own argument
with a hypothetical that holds water. RB are massive.
They have a network of clubs that they could populate
the squad with using some shenanigans. Who knows
if they have a buy out clause. But on some level it
makes sense.

Are we in a much deeper financial hole than the
49ers want the fans/media knowing? Fire sales -
which this is - are rarely done by stable clubs.

He's having a good season over here. When I've
watched them play, he's been in the number 10.
Other times playing advanced and looks good.

Different level than in Europe. But not crap.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The noises coming out of the club earlier didn't indicate a financial hole, buying back the ground indicated otherwise.
The sale of Gray was to satisfy financial regulations but wasn't an indicator in my mind that the club was in any kind of financial mess but obviously the monies outstanding from dealings in the Orta years had to be repaid.
Have they pulled over everyone's eyes, are we not buying anyone because the coffers are empty even after the Summerville and Rutter sales?

Said it before and I will say it again, proof reading will be my undoing:

Its not a fire sale, though is it.

We had to sell these players, because of the contracts 49ners gave out. We have no legal right to say no.

posted 4 weeks, 2 days ago

I just think it’s p!ss poor planning from the 49ers rather than financial issues or asset stripping. Their aim is to get us to the PL and then raise the value of their asset ready to sell on.

Issue isn’t so much the sales individually but the fact that weve not been proactive enough. Summerville should be replaced already and they should have foreseen Rutters sale given two bids already in and they knew his release clause.

If we’d have already replaced Kamara, signed another left back and then brought in a Summerville replacement or number 10, this Rutter transfer wouldn’t have felt anywhere near as bad

Seems every other club in the division has no problem replacing a sold player immediately. Not us.

Yep, it's just so slow. Or even signing something before they are sold - be proactive.

Rutter has a release clause of £40 million - Brighton bid twice not far off that. Early in summer, we could have got a number 10 in - we needed another player there anyway, we looked at Amiri last summer. Then when/if Rutter went, it's fine, we've already got another option.

Instead we made Rutter our only player there, a key player that everything was built around, then act shell shocked when he goes
