Gnonto

I’m gonna be perfectly honest Batty - no it wouldn’t be surprising at all. But let’s face it, he’s been on thin ice since the incident last year. And I think most have cut him some slack considering.
My opinion is that he is an annoying presence on the field. Always looks easy to wind up. Sarcastically smiling at challenges all the time. Forever complaining to the ref.
I couldn’t care less if he left. Let’s have players here that want to play.

Gnonto always promises more than he delivers and, as infinite one says, he isn’t a positive presence in the team. Even less so with his best mate gone.

This is the least of our problems. we've already got his replacement and he's not even gone

This new signing can play left and right wing and centre forward so very versatile but hopefully not a Jack of all trades but either way if Gnonto departs we've at least got a decent replacement and with Jaidon Anthony or Benson likely to follow our forward line doesn't look too shabby.

Can't see Jack Clarke turning down Ipswich and the EPL which is the latest development but who knows as this new signing has been a pleasant surprise so you never know.

Agree that Gnonto wastes his undoubted talents being more interested in petty sarcastic gestures than doing the business. But if he was going, I'd like to think it would have been before now. Ramazani (assuming he passes the medical) is an impressive & surprising signing but he's only one player. If we lose Gnonto as well there's still a hell of a lot of ground to make up on our squad depth in the space of just over a week.

If someone offers over £20m then flog him. If he wants to go then get rid!

Fed up of players kissing the badge and then buggering off at the first opportunity. Or trying to in his case.

Everton seem to have gone cool on him.

I watched Gnonto closely in first games and I thought his effort was spot on, so no complaints there, but agree with others, his sarcastic smiling, sniping and complaining are tiresome and he never quite delivers.

If he wants to go, let him go before he becomes worth even less last summer.

But if he goes that's 7 players need not 6, they he fact we've been heavily linked to 1 player is just not enough.

He might be annoying and frustrating but he is the only player left who can do something different and scare the life out of defenders.
We've been a much poorer team when he has been substituted as noted on the matchday threads.

Reported that we rejected £23m for him earlier in the window.

Got no issue with Gnonto
Probably got over egged a bit when we first signed him
Think he has a lot of ability. Plays better off the left and now Somerville has left he may get the chance (not sure where the new winger will play)

Its messy when too many players leave. On paper - fine. Sign a replacement and it looks nice. But players need time to settle in, understand the new manager tactics, buy a house etc. I always judge a player in their second season. Gnonto may want to leave but he's settled in the area and in the club and its way of playing. I'd do all we can to keep him unless he starts to really affect the dressing room

3 years left. Force him to stay.

Even offer a new deal with a release clause of £25m if we don’t go up.

Probably would have to sell at that price next summer anyway if we don’t go up. Given the financial position we will be in and time left on his contract.

Out of all the players we have already sold he'd be the least id be bothered about if he left.

Although unless hes got a dodgy release clause I think we have the upper hand here.

Zero confidence we would replace him or improve on him in this window.

Hard to find a wide player that contributes as much as him and will score 12+ goals. He’s the only player in the team now who can actually carry the ball.

We’ve had enough outgoings for one window.

Put yourself in his shoes, would you want to stay?

As much as I like Gnonto, he does blow hot and cold but most of all, I'm completely fed up with the uncertainty of whether he wants to be here or not. Fed up of the 20 million, he wants out rumours every other week.

All the above comments are justified but truthfully if I had the final say on whether he stays or is sold I'd definitely insist he stays as he's that extra bit of magic a side needs to sway a match....unfortunately it's all hyperthetical because he seems destined to leave before Sept 1st.

Most player who want away usually achieve it the obvious way. Performance and attitude affects team cohesion and the players agent usually has a client in mind ready for his commission. I forget the name of a player in 1990 -2000s whose agent was his brother and they worked the system to the full ( with commissions)

Back to the OP:

Nope.

If we get £20m plus and can replace him then he can go though i would prefer him to stay asits late in the window, hes got no pace so not sure he will cut it in the PL.

Apparently turned down £23m from Everton earlier in the window…they seem to be his only suitors.

I was listening to Big Sam on talk sport this morning (at least I think it was him). He spoke about players wanting to leave or holding a grudge against a manager for not starting them. He said they are like bad apples in a barrel - they rot and it spreads to the other apples.

I hope Gnonto stays because we need his type - but if he’s gonna be a bad Apple then get shot of him.
