After reading this thread it seems that the first half wasn't exactly illuminating and possibly caused by all the off pitch activity this week plus the rather strange decision of DF to utilise Gnonto on the right instead of where he impressed so much against Shef Wed but the
2nd half seems to have been a lot better and 3 great points, Joseph and Piroe off the mark...Happy days!
Just wasn't a memorable half, we started stronger (not really right word) and Hull came into a bit more, but that was about it.
Second half passing was crisper and once we scored Hull had to commit more and left more space.
I’ll be gobsmacked if we dont win the league, honestly gobsmacked
Impressed with all the newbies, really pleased for Mateo he deserved that goal. Some of our interplay is a delight to watch. 2 points per game definitely goes up this season…the Championship is for the taking!
That league is there for taking
Good professional display, Man Utd in the 90s used to win loads like this,
WW3 will have to break out to stop us going up
Slightly different take on it, first ten fifteen minutes we were playing some lovely stuff, Hull hardly able to get a touch. Then Hull came into the game our passing became ragged and the game wasn't helped by an atrocious ref. Meslier did his utmost to gift Hull the lead by two inexplicable clearances and others such as Rodon looked far from rock solid. We struggled to control Millar and Bogle had a few dodgy moments.
We seemed to improve towards the end of the half.
In the second half they should have had a man sent off, and the ref and linesmen missed so much it was unbelievable.
Solomon, Gruev, Ampadu and Aaronson all had good games.
Gnonto needs to do something about his awareness we could have had a couple more goals if he knew where the last man was.
Having criticised Meslier, he also looked sharp at other times.
Good to see Struijk taking a leadership role and talking to his team mates especially at set pieces.
Was really impressed with all the new signing we saw.
Great that Joseph got his first league goal, love the boy.
My Man of the Match was Firpo. Not only the assist but he is so good at what he does, so what if he cannot defend.
We look like a good team.
Solomon looks good, definitely the Summerville replacement on the left.
This is not me saying that Aaronson is better than Rutter so please don’t take it that way, but with the sale of Rutter, we might end up with a more balanced side than last season, which could work in our favour controlling the game. On an off day he would give the ball away 20-30 times and never really seemed like a proper attacking mid. Obviously a big loss but don’t think we’ll see the same frustrating games that we saw last time.
Meslier is an accident waiting to happen.
First goal was huge for both Manor & Mateo.
Piroe never looks like missing chances like that, we really do waste him when he's not getting in the box.
Feel we have some cracking new signings, with the possible exception of Bogle.
Hands up, Struijk was absolutely rock solid today. Great performance 👍
Some of those refereeing decisions were awful.
First ten we were excellent and Solomon looked like a class above. Then we faded a little and let them play a bit.
As for Bogle - like Firpo he’s not the strongest defender but I counted at least four times he made really good runs that would have put us behind their back four and every one was missed by the player with the ball. We need to work on our ability to see players making runs.
Second half was much better and both goals were excellent.
With Bogle, he’s not been great but also he’s just had a season conceding 100 goals in the prem. It wouldn’t be shock if he’s low on confidence, I think he’ll get better
I thought Firpo and Aaronson were excellent today. Never stopped running!

Aaronsom is technically a very good player.
He’s never going to be the strongest, its just his build.
But a couple of times today, you could see how much he wanted the ball, like he was really trying to prove a point, real hunger.

Still saying there's nothing wrong with Meslier?
Twice today he must scared the sh!t out of his defence, and I'm not counting the time when Rodon was screaming for a bit of help.

The old man talks a lot of sense.
Thought Rodon was quite poor. At sixes and sevens first half. All over the place. Was better second half.
I have to say this, I thought Meslier was really good
today. More decisive than I've seen in a while. There
was a mix up with Rodon first half where Joe wanted
Mes to come and get the ball, then hoofed it. 50/50
on that one. He showed strong wrists and played well.
Overall, excited about this team.

Batty, i did wonder whether I was watching tellytubbies based on comments I saw.
Cos I thought he saved us from losing the game.
Biscuit wrists he was not when their striker hit that powerful shot in the first half I thought was going in. And again when he got off his line to clear with his legs when his defenders let him down.
I know a lot on here think Meslier has been protected by his defenders recently. There's lot to say he has been let down by the defence but had to take the blame.
Rodon really has to step up. He's been very poor since he signed permanently. He deserves far more stick than Meslier. Personally, think there's a lot of negative bias.
I’ve got a generally dim view of Meslier, but (ignoring the two dodgy passes) I thought he had his best game for ages today. Incredible reactions and a strong hand for the save of the powerful shot early on.
Thought Solomon and Largie showed some exciting skills.
On a separate note, saw MOTD earlier and Summerville shooting on goal in exactly the same way he always did for us. I think we sold a one-trick pony in terms of his goal threat, so happy for now with the replacement.
Though Meslier kept goal well today though he is the opposition's best attacker

Yep. Still not convinced by him. For me, half the
problem is listening to others tell me how great he
is (him and Bamford), when the eye test says
something different. If he plays like that rest of
the season, we'll be fine though.
