Poch had 25 pts in 24 games across the end of 18/19 and start 19/20 seasons and no away wins since January when he was sacked in November.
Even with our disappointing end to the season, Ange has 39 in 24 since about Christmas. Its far from a disaster even if its not quite where we want to be.

I don’t take issue with Ange. He’s working with what he’s been given. A whole stream of experienced lads have been replaced by kids in order to get the wage bill down. Over the next month, that thin squad is going to get severely tested with games every 3 days. The fact that we’re so ill-prepared for a push on four fronts is down to one man and one man only, Daniel Levy. I don’t care whether it’s Ange, Pep, Klopp, Ferguson or Bill Shankly from the grave. No one is going to be able to compete without adequate financial backing.
Wage bill outlay across the history of the premier league is the best indicator of where you’ll finish. The best players earn the most and therefore see more success. In turn, the less you pay, the lower down you’ll finish. This isn’t about Ange. Our wage bill is now lower than Brighton’s and apparently it’s not about to slow down. I think we’ll finish between 7th-10th this year and none of that will be down to Ange.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The idea that a manager can only work with what he's given can only be used in his defence if he didn't in part want a lot of these players he's been given. The fact is he did. Weren't Solanke and BJ earmarked by him for signing? I accept that he and we may have wanted other players to help strengthen in areas but the man has been given in excess of £300m to spend in 3 windows. He's spent almost the equivalent of what Poch spent in 11 windows.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Great point...... Ange has said he happy with the signings and the support he's been given..... Madders, Solanke, VDV, BJ, Werner, Odobert, Drag, Vic, Solomon, The korean kid, Gray, Veliz, Bergvall.. All his signings
He's said nobody arrives or leaves without his approval.. at some point he has to be held accountable.... The club has made lots of changes.... Ange now has to prove his way will work in the PL
I think its more than fair to question him at this point.... That doesnt mean he should be fired

And he's around at a time when more substitutes are allowed. Always used to annoy me last season how he kept an underperforming Kulu on the pitch for the majority of matches when certain other players could have been given chances - Veliz etc.
Apart from injury problems I'd say Ange has had it pretty good.
I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Of course we've got to win games, but if we win slightly less than we expect that shouldn't mean sacking him. 5th place last season was pretty well as good as we could expect, let's be honest. An improvement on last season would be top 4 and at least meaningful progress in a couple of the cups. We won't find out if that's going to happen in the next 3 games. It's just bedwetting.
Christ, it’s like living in a f*cking parallel universe.
people forget key factors when comparing amounts spent under Ange than under Poch
- More time in the stadium, revenue etc
- Previous important players during Poch era still werent replaced by time Ange came in and more mess piled up and up from managers in between
- Wages
- Inflated transfer fees
- More competition in the league now

Whilst Ange can be grateful he hasn’t had to go two transfer windows with zero players coming in, or play an entire season away from home.

I do think with Ange we've at least shown more ambition in terms of bringing in players and amount of spending. Sure the profile of player might be another matter but overall the players aren't so bad are they? We look like we've upped the quality of our recruitment, certainly since the time of Jose. Ange has less to complain about.

Yeah times have changed and transfer fees have gone up etc. Solanke back in Poch's day wouldn't be a £60m player. However Ange has still spent a lot in a short space of time and without the obstacles that Poch had in his day with the building of the stadium and lack of funds as a result, perhaps we ought to expect for Ange to produce more than Poch was able to, at least going forward?

Yeah, but Conte and Jose had Harry Kane.
Kane wasn't replaced for a whole season until recently when we bought Solanki. Ange ahs a right to feel a little hard done by with Solanki only lasting one of three games so far.
I think Spurs have an excellent young squad, I have no issues with money spent and players signed in the past couple of windows.... No issues at all. I think we are good enough to get top 4. I would just like to see us play more in a similar high press style as we did with Poch with these players.. I think it would work well.
I think Ange's approach is too extreme. I think he could play this way in an inferior league in Scotland knowing he had the best team, would score more than anyone else and it was unlikely the chances given up would not be punished in the same way they are in the PL.
I think since that Chelsea game, we are averaging 2 goals conceded in our away games.... Thats too much pressure on our attacking players to pick up points on the road and against good teams
I said it earlier, a bit pragmatism (not Conte Football) could have seen us win 1-0 at Leicester, beat Everton and got a point from Newcastle..... 7 Points.. happy days

They also had Sanchez and Dier in defence. Ange has the best defensive line up since peak Poch with Rose/Toby/Vert/Walker. We had been waiting ages for new defensive quality to replace those guys.
Poch had 3 points after his first 4 games in his second season
Sorry you're right yeah that was lazy. Ange went unbeaten for 10 games last season. Was he the best manager ever then?

12 points after 7 though and just 1 loss after 15 games. If we can do similar this season then brilliant.
Definitely Spurtle. 15 games then yeah? I mean we could debate sacking the manager after every 3 but it seems a bit short-sighted
Side question - does everyone truly believe that we can achieve real success under Levy? I don’t mean the odd League Cup run, I mean consistently challenging at the top and then using that extra revenue to do what Arsenal have done?
That’s why I’m so downbeat on things because I’ve come to realise it just won’t happen under ENIC. The hide intentions of greed behind ‘sustainability’, they hide cheaper outlays behind ‘data-driven recruitment’. It’s all a lie. All of it. Even today we’ve just learnt that we’re one of only 3 clubs in favour of not putting a cap on European ticket prices. Every step of the way, they want to rinse the fans and whilst doing so, they trim the wage bill. They expect us to pay without committing to anything financially themselves. They expect us to show ambition without showing a shred of it themselves. I just think it’s all so bleak now. It’s why I’m never majorly up when we win but never really down when we lose. I’ve accepted that until they sell up, we’re in this purgatorial state.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
And he's around at a time when more substitutes are allowed.

It's just bedwetting.

people forget key factors when comparing amounts spent under Ange than under Poch

Both Jose and Conte are ticking time bombs. They both knew what they were getting into at Spurs and with their reputations it was only going to end one way.
