I would settle for the season starting a month later if they squeezed all the international bollox into those 3/4 weeks - then start the season and just let it play out.

Right now I would settle for them cutting the early season breaks from 3 to 2 - it’s just mental, a whole summer of international football (throw in the Olympic football as well) the good stuff starts again only for them to stop after 3 matches so we can play a load more shiete international football. Bores me to tears

The nations league is the first step to essentially playing the European championships every 2 years. Start with a 1 week 4 team finals. They will then make it 8 sides but keep it straight knockout, meaning just one extra game and hardly any additional time - and no one will moan.

After a couple of iterations they will convince the powers that be to keep it at 8 teams but start with 2 groups of 4 - because teams turning up in the quarters, losing and going straight back home don’t see the worth. This will get signed off. At that point Pandora’s box will have been opened, and making it a 16 team tournament instead of 8 only adds 1 additional game for each side so what’s the issue - before you know it we will have a 32 team Euros 1 summer, 64 team World Cup the next, then a 16 team nations league, then a 32 team club World Cup.

It’s coming, and it will be epically schittt

I quite like the UEFA Nations Cup as it give a bit more bite and meaning to what would otherwise be annoyingly meaningless frendlies.

But overall matches need to be reduced. UEFA nad FIFA are milking this cash cow so hard it's gonna ruin the game.

A decent international playing in the UCL could face 38 league games, 11 internationals, 17 european games, 10 domestic cup games and if they are taking place in next years FIFA Club World Cup, another up to 8 games up to 15 July 2025. Bonkers , same again the next year except it will be the FIFA WC.

Yep - killing the game with an overload of shiete no one wants to watch.

The club World Cup is the a hottest idea I have ever heard - who is interested in watch Man City vs Depotivo Saprissa - most City fans can’t be bothered watching their side in meaningful games let alone this schitt. The first 2 English entrants are our 2 most plastic clubs - City and Chelsea.

The bottom line though is that all the action is in Europe - the big games in that competition will be when European heavyweights face off - the only 2 other teams that will draw any significant interest are Boca and River but they are nowhere near good enough to compete with elite euro sides who pinch all of their best players. A complete waste of time

the Nation League games are a helluva lot better than the friendlies that existed before them.

National teams must have some time together and would rather see them in meaningful games rather than dead rubber games.
