The low prices scare me - got to be a scam right?

posted 2 weeks, 1 day ago

They do these silly prices because they want your data so they can spy on you. Do not trust them.

When they offer you a free gift is it actually free or is there a catch ?

It's real things but it's 100% poor quality slave labour stuff. If you're ok with that go ahead

So they sell bait and rods?

Count me in

About 1 in 5 things from there is really decent for the price. The rest is just well marketed tat, so you end up paying full price as most of it goes in the bin

I got a rock solid dog guard for my car for like £15, was amazed. Same one was £150 in Halfords.

But then I also premium whiskey decanter set for £20, which was made of plastic!

lot of it is a scam to get ur details yes but can find a lot of good bargains too. i think u can get refunds for most the scam stuff. theyll often still send u a package with some real pointless cheap stuff in so they can claim a mistake or w.e but really just after ur info. what for idk nothing too harmful i guess but writing fake reviews or w.e.? theres a term for it im sure idr what though.

posted 2 weeks, 1 day ago

i guess most ppl are like chris H and dont dispute it for a refund or w.e. as its cheap anyway and not worth the hassle?

Is it worse that Wish?

posted 2 weeks, 1 day ago

Same tat as Wish it's just more obviously Chinese in nature so people assume it's run by criminals (all these sites harvest your data)

aye all the same really aliexpress is another one

I use it for loads of stuff. From Golf shirts to jet wash lance.

Also some sexy stuff for Mrs Bored.

Chinas Amazon. Lead time a bit longer but no bad experience. Also, if any issues, they refund and most of the time tell you to keep it.

App is annoying with all the ads. No different to any other e commerce sites really. It is legit. Some things are cheaper as others said some things well marketed and in end same or even more expensive than others. Good for small random things I’ve found for even less than a pound (as oppposed to Amazon where everything there seems to be minimum £5-10).

posted 2 weeks ago

I downloaded the app.
Got prompted to choose 3 free gifts
After choosing the freebies I was then asked to spend £45 on their site in order to receive the 3 free gifts.
I passed on that for now

That isn’t true.

Most small and medium sized business and organisations’ websites won’t collect more data than they need in order to deliver you their services and products, and certainly won’t be selling your data to anyone.

If you shop with or buy services from big businesses, you’re infinitely more likely to pay that additional price, not only in the collection and sale of your data, but also with the terms and conditions you sign up to, which will strip you of rights you’d assume untouchable by law.

Recent case in point: a widower attempting to sue DisneyWorld on behalf of his dead wife after she suffered a fatal allergic reaction from a meal she ate at a park restaurant has discovered that there’s a blanket, lifetime no-sue clause in the T&Cs he signed up to when he trialled (then cancelled) Disney+.

The best general advice anyone can ever give you regarding consumption is that when you have to/choose to do it, and you can, shop with a small, independent business.

I don't do much online shopping but my wife does and she's a regular user of Amazon but has used Temu also with no issues.
I think she would tend to go for cheaper everyday stuff on Temu, but a more substantive buy on Amazon - that could be just the perception that each company has.
Everyone seems to be watching everyone these days, I don't get too worked up about it, but then i lead a pretty dull life.................
