How do we see it going?

Not very well at all.
The expectation level for Rangers has been set firmly to zero. We simply dont have the squad to compete. Too many glaring gaps - we are short of quality throughout but particularly lacking in quality options in the CF area, the wings, midfield (#6) and at RB.
Best case would be to not be humiliated in Europe, to finish comfortably in second spot in the league and maybe to nick a cup.

Just being honest about it. Celtic have a free pass for the league this year
Aberdeen have started well but its difficult to see them sustaining it - and whilst I am sure they will take points off us, they arent exactly prone to laying a glove on Celtic.
Relatively speaking Celtic have an embarrassment of riches in their squad. They should and will win the league at a canter.

meh plenty can change very quickly in football, Im sure as Beale was sacked last year the mood and expectations were much the same. before we knew the title was in our hands to lose and a possible treble was there to be won.
Celtic are favourites and rightly so anyone who doesnt win the league in their position should be embarrassed. But like I said much of that could have been said last year also.
We should still be beating the rest in the league.
If we play the football we have started this season playing we could win all 3 games especially as they are all at home that would be a great confidence boost before we go to Perth followed by an almighty test in Dortmund
Thank fvck real football is back.
Cba with international football no matter the colour of the shirt. Only joy I get is watching England lose in the big tournaments .
Looking forward to the start of the Champions League next week. Hopefully the feel good continues into the weekend.

We absolutely should be beating the rest in the league, whether we will do it is an entirely different question.
It was a minor miracle that we somehow got ourselves into a position to win the league last year, particularly with the injuries we had. But ultimately we failed. And we failed quite spectacularly in the end. It was worrying to see.
I think from what we have seen so far this season is that Celtic have kicked on and we are scrambling around trying to mould a team out of what we have.
The 'rebuild' can only be considered massively underwhelming. It was absolutely time to move on from Lundstrum, Goldson, Barisic etc (and Tavs!). However we have been shopping in Poundland all summer and there are still huge gaps in quality in the squad.
The OF game was always going to be a tough ask - away with no fans against a celtic team that are flying domestically. But lets be honest - it was worryingly easy for Celtic and it will take a massive improvement from Rangers to muster any sort of a fight.
And lets not forget we had to change manager last season to get us out of our malaise. We just gave Clement an extended contract so its safe to say hes going to be here for a while.

I think what we have seen is perfectly normal and to be expected. We have one team that is settled have good chemistry and loads of money in the bank and good sellable assets vs a team that has dramatically reduced its wage bill, had to clear out a lot of dead wood and rebuild a team on a lower budget than his last 4/5 predessesors.
How anyone can expect the two to be on an equal footing 4 games into the league season is beyond me.
It is what it is, we need to take the hit short term to improve things long term.
Irrespective the last league game we have let go our best player who's key contribution stats were out this world. Remains to be seen how Engels & Bernardo replace that. Signs are good but way too early.

I agree completely. In principle.
The issue for me is that the 'rebuild' has been severely limited by cash and I am just not convinced we have anywhere near the right level of quality or depth in the squad that is required.
Its great to be optimistic for the long term but it looks like we will need significant change and significant investment to make the required step changes. We are pash at the whole player trading model thing and I am not convinced any of this summers recruits will change that.
Who knows though...maybe Igamane will turn out to be a superstar.....
Acceptance of reality is the first step to rangers starting to address their issues. It's been a long time coming but some (like Hamish) seem to have grasped it.
Others still clinging to moonbeams.
Rangers should still be good enough for second place although I've not seen enough to be sure about Aberdeen. I've heard that the new coach has had a massive impact, training and everything around the squad is very professional. The players seem to be buying into him. So it could be interesting.
Based on the OF game, I'd say that if you stripped away the noise and the atmosphere and put that rangers team in motherwell or hibs kits it would have seemed like a standard spfl game. Not one Rangers player stands out.

we need to get away from this idea of "investment" to make progress thats the short term planning that keeps us where we are just now. what we are doing just now is far more sustainable.
the player trading model isnt about just uncovering superstars, its about making sure you at least what you paid for them and any profits you make. The rebuild is lacking cash cos we have been relying on just pumping money into the club to challenge.
We need to be less reluctant to sell players as we have in the past.
i think thats unfair tbh, rangers had a number of standouts.
standing out for being schite. smirk.
I am hopeful that Engels has been signed as the ‘Quarterback’ that can finally exploit Kyogos movement. This will not happen overnight obviously, but hopefully that’s the plan to kick us on.
This is based on extensive research … of 1 YouTube clip 👍🏼
I think when you go to Hell, you're permanently on a holiday abroad with kids that won't eat anything
Rangers missed a huge opportunity in 2012 to implement a whole new business/football model. They could have had a young hungry team of future assets and been in a much healthier place by the time they got back into the top tier. Instead they decided to spend daft money on player’s overnight hotel stays etc… that came across as a sort of 2 fingers up to the rest of Scottish football that they were still uncompromising and staunch that was pride and idiocy
Aberdeen will finish third easy (I'd be surprised if they got second, but it's possible)
St.Mirren, Dundee and Hearts for fourth place. Dundee have been excellent.
P. Clement needs to win every match til Christmas to get their fans back, not an easy task considering everything going on.
Hamish is being realistic about things.

the counter argument to this is that we played many youngsters during that period and none of them progressed to a level good enough to play top flight football in Scotland.
Kamil Wiktorski
Kyle Mcausland
Chris Hegarty
Luka Gasparotti
Lewis Mcleod
Robbie Crawford
Andy Murdoch
Charlie Telfer
Fraser Aird
Barrie Mckay
Remie Street
Craig Halkett
Tom Walsh
these guys were all part of the squad and got plenty of opportunities and none of them progressed to a level good enough to play for us in the top flight.

If they were allowed time, they probably would've made it. Unfortunately for them, Rangers needed to win promotion every year, so they couldn't gamble on youth. That's why they bought so many overpriced journeyman.

They got plenty of time either at us or at other teams playing the same level as us and never progressed anywhere near a level required to be good enough for us in the top flight.
the two that stood out from that list was Barrie Mckay and Lewis Mcleod. one struggled to get regular game time for Hearts last year and the other wasnt good enough for the championship. Not one of them showed at the time or developed into being good enough to play for us in the top flight.

Errr....based on what exactly?
The fact they all left Rangers and got moves to top english championship teams or EPL teams?
They simply werent good enough in the end. Mostly Scottish Championship standard players in reality.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree completely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
we need to get away from this idea of "investment" to make progress thats the short term planning that keeps us where we are just now. what we are doing just now is far more sustainable.
the player trading model isnt about just uncovering superstars, its about making sure you at least what you paid for them and any profits you make. The rebuild is lacking cash cos we have been relying on just pumping money into the club to challenge.
We need to be less reluctant to sell players as we have in the past.

I am hopeful that Engels has been signed as the ‘Quarterback’ that can finally exploit Kyogos movement. This will not happen overnight obviously, but hopefully that’s the plan to kick us on.
