I have not been able to watch any of it. Is it down to the pitch, poor Aussie batting or did Englands bowlers bowl well for once?
I’ve been watching bits and pieces and it looks like all three from what I can tell.
Salt dropped on 8. Lucky boy.
That’s a hell of a ball. Salt isn’t an ODI opener. Jacks isn’t an international cricketer.

Agree with both comments there. I don’t know what England see in Jacks.
I could maybe understand him coming in at six for the t20 side as when he turns it on he can be very destructive. But otherwise he just isn’t up to international standard.
Interesting stat someone just posted on Cricinfo - 5 singles in the first 14 overs. England don't know how to play ODI cricket properly, this "bAzBAll" bubble is bursting.
Hardly surprising, we’ve gone all in on t20 and Test cricket and neglected ODIs since we won the world cup.
We are tediously not good enough against the Aussies
another game today. why would you play a day night match in Durham when its getting on for October? barmy.. hopefully the rain stays away later on in the day.
Getting thrashed all round the park again. Utter $hite captaincy and bowling.
terrible from the openers. but to be expected... just don't care. not cared a jot since the last test match
Don't see us chasing this down in all honesty
Will Jacks gone for 84. Excellent knock.
England win by 46 runs on DLS. Brook with his first century in ODIs.
Excellent from Brook, the guy should be capable of scoring plenty of hundreds in this format. I still would prefer an accumulator at 3 rather than a biffer. Hain would be perfect as he can hit 6s but he plays more like Root.
Will be interesting to see how Baz goes about reshaping the ODI team. I think many would agree we need to move on from the older generation, however, I wonder if Baz might back himself and the older guys to get some form back to challenge for the Champions Trophy next year. Might see it as a swansong for the likes of Root, Bairstow and Stokes. Especially as he’s only got the India series to work with the white ball team, and he knows those guys very well from the test team.
I can see him going for effectively our current test top 6 just with Buttler in instead of Pope and Root at 3.
I really rate Salt but he's struggled in ODI's whereas on paper you'd think it should be Crawley's best format.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Crawley and Duckett open for the ODI team. I think they’re better suited to opening the batting in this format than anyone else, given YBJ’s form falling off a cliff.
There’s some big decisions to make on players like Salt, Brook, Jacks, Livingstone, Root, Stokes and Smith and where they are going to fit in if we do go with Crawley and Duckett as openers.
Might need to start asking questions about Buttler’s future in ODIs as well soon given he’ll be 37 by the time the next world cup is on.
I think for the champions trophy at least we're probably going to see a top 7 of:
Duckett
Salt/Crawley
Root
Brook
Stokes
Buttler
Livingstone
I don't think that suits Livingstone at all but they'll want a spinning all rounder in there, and I think it's inevitable Baz gets Stokes in. Jacks and Smith will probably be the reserve batsmen.
My worry however is it'll be similar to the last WC where too many players simply don't play enough ODI cricket and we expect them to turn up and smash it.
Root was world class in ODIs but we probably should have moved onto Hain, who I'm forever shocked at that the management just doesn't seem to rate him.
It's a T39 game today. Good knock from Duckett with Brook going well again so far.
Need to stick another 100 on here
Xavi
Just put this on. Another underwhelming innings from Salt. Zampa went for nearly 11 an over.
