who in scotland was proven?
The team did collpse yes, but he also put the team in a position where we looked hopeless (12-14 point gap was it?) to challenging for a treble.
He needs to learn in regards to the OF agreed, he has had plenty of OF games where it has been close, but ultimately results are what matters and something he defo needs to rectifiy.
He is currently having to reshape and restructure the team. both in balance of squad, financially and the age.
We have now dramatically cut the wage bill and lowered the age of our squad. Now he needs to get that team performing better, gelling and then try to move them forward over the next 2 seasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s my point. To get the sale model up and working, he’ll have to move the good ones on at a profit almost immediately.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
without a doubt, we need to get into a position were we can bank some money, so that we have a stronger platform to grow. If that means we need to take the hit for 2/3 seasons to get there then so be it.
We reduced our wage bill by about 7/8m on last year Im sure I read, thats the start. Every player at our club should be up for sale. For the next 2/3 seasons we cannot over price our players for selling and cant think that we cannot sell any player cos they are too important.
I would say we are in a position where every player is for sale as well. The difference is we have built a solid team that replacing 2-3 players each year from a solid squad should be managable.
It is always a risk. What if you sell a player and the replacement is guff? All it takes is 2 bad windows and the whole model is at risk.
We potentially risked it all with our transfer windows that were Ange's last then Rodgers first. We went back to loads of £1-2M players.
For Rangers they need to find a starting pace with a squad, accept that starting place them go from there. However, the pressure of Celtic continuing to win means that no manager or board will be allowed time to rebuild.
You had the chance to do that when you started again but instead chose to sign premiership level players on premiership level wages just to win div 2 and 1
Look you fat fooks just accept you are Scotland’s 2nd club, your Espanyolification is complete

we're playing better this season for sure, far less messing about at the back, faster and more direct.
Thought reo was unduly criticised at the weekend, thought he had a decent game, it was very messy in midfield and a few players gave the ball away a few times.
hearts defended well and it was just after a international break, 3 points are all that matters.
Now you've got the easiest champions league game in history against some mug team with 1/20th of your budget.
Was the Artmedia Bratislava game the last time you played over there? That was some doing they gave you.

Questions for the Bears;
1. Realistically, who could Rangers have sold at their peak, and how much in total would it have netted the club?
2. Why didn't the club do it?

See I expect engels will be gone in the summer hes too good for scottish football and exactly the player the premiership are after.
The difference between our 2 clubs, as I see it, is we accept that is the model and move on but I suspect rangers would rather hold onto him and chase a title than sell and rebuild.

Disagree about Engels, think (hope) he'll be here 2 years, but if that first appearance is just the start, you could be right.
Don't necessarily disagree with your second point, but there are a few other things to consider.
A lot was made about how much Celtic spent, but that came from selling a player we got for 1.5. That's the difference, scouting. We made a big net profit. A lot was discussed before about spent/nett spend. Nett spend is a significant point and shows the difference between the clubs.

Yeah usually we get 2 years out of them but he ticks too many boxes that I suspect a premiership club will offer 30m+ next summer.
Hes tall, athletic and good with the ball at his feet. Exactly the kind of player the premiership likes.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
"I cared at the time , but cos we didnt do it I decided that i didnt really care" honest
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Were we all wanting 10? Yes 100%
Were we annoyed at not getting it? Yes 100%
Does it consume our lives since? No. Mainly because since then we have won the double twice and a treble.
As Silver said getting 10 would have been a great wum to sing about but if you could guarantee we would win 9 titles each decade and you win 1 then I will continue to take it.
We continue to be the dominant and best team and you are all buzzing that you stopped 10 again but don't improve after
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn’t improve?
I think it’s fair to say it’s been a horrendous and very costly collapse since then, with no signs of it changing.
Supposedly a £10m black hole every year that had to be stopped; so they went and committed to spend more. Mental bastirts
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah since he left we have regressed. He set us up then handing over the reigns, the people following didnt capitalise on that success (by selling the players we could). That doesnt mean King would have decided to sell them, but he set up the whole Gerrard team and overseen all the new background changes before handing the role over. What he set up went on to win the league.
None of that means much in terms of the future, our goals will be different and we have no idea what his objective would be if he was to come in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Surely that was down to appeasing Gerrard who when he didn’t get his own way, scarpered south at the first calling despite the fact that just handing over more and more money was exactly the wrong thing to do?
From there it’s the proverbial hamster wheel of hiring managers; backing them and then firing them. Rinse and repeat. And now that has been stopped by giving an unproven new manager a massive contract plus an extension which btw, I firmly believe was his way of securing his financial future in exchange for hanging around.
To progress; any had; decent players you may have uncovered in this last window, will have to be sold to start the player trading model. Hang on to them and you miss the boat again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes he left cos he felt his part was, done. He set up the club to having sellable assets again, won the league and secured champ league entry. How that was handled after he left was the downfall.
Unproven? Clement has 3 title wins under his belt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I meant in Scotland. And on that, didn’t he preside over the collapse at the end of last season? He also hasn’t come close to laying a glove on us either
----------------------------------------------------------------------
who in scotland was proven?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's a slight but obvious flaw on this plan!

we're playing better this season for sure, far less messing about at the back, faster and more direct.

Questions for the Bears;
1. Realistically, who could Rangers have sold at their peak, and how much in total would it have netted the club?
2. Why didn't the club do it?

in part 2 of that, because you thought you could get more money than was being offered.
i felt like rangers had this "celtic got that so we should get that" way of dealing with things.
kent was never going to net massive money, and the money you got offered for morelos now looks like terrific deal.

was an off night, the return leg was good.

we would have gotten considerably more for Kent than we eventually did. Maybe at his peak say 10-11m still a decent profit.
All those players could have been sold for much more than we got for them thats for sure.

the peak time to sell was after that uefa cup run.
see in saying that though, i think for us if we had that run i'd want to add to what we have and have another crack at it rather than sell.
nature of the beast though.
