Ineos are doing a great job, fix left back and the midfield next season. We need to give Antony games to build his confidence and attract buyers. I expect the fringe players to start tomorrow, our u21 team beat Barnsley first team already this season
Glad I’ll have to go and watch Antony against Barnsley
Giving someone credit for being better than Anthony is a hard sell. As a spurs fan its like saying Brenan Johnson is good coz he's better than Timo Werner
I don't this is much of a surprise. He was fantastic for Sunderland in the Championship, looked lively last summer in preseason before his injury and looked good at the end of last season when he started getting chances.
He's quick, technically excellent, looks like he has a decent football brain, can beat a player and strikes the ball really well.
At only 22 years old he's got a lot of potential and he's definitely our best option on the right.
It'll be a case of how much of that potential can he turn into reality, to see if he can be a top level starter for years to come or a good solid squad player.
Hopefully the upward curve continues.

Which is why I said it is a low bar.
From the start I really liked the look of him as a footballer. His touch is so good that he has the ability to play with his head up and make the right decisions, added to which he has a pretty high football IQ. The question was mainly about whether he could successfully apply those skills as a small player in a fast and physical league like the PL, and I guess whether he could blossom into the best version of himself at a club that hasn't been very good at maximising the talent at its disposal.
There are still questions about how much further he can go: will he be consistently productive in a team aiming to rejoin the elite? But I'm delighted to see him play with confidence and outshine older players, and apparently enjoying being part of the crop of young talent. (Loved seeing him hop up on the advertising board next to Garnacho after the beautiful pass that unlocked Dalot's assist.)

VC, you can't expect people to read the words. This is a football forum.
What was the aggro between Saints fans and Amad? Booing him from before kick off. Did he do something to them when he was on loan??
Tbf I think Amad is one of those rare Utd related topics where we've pretty got universal agreement in the fanbase. He's a good player who offers us something we don't have in the other wider options. He's very calm on the ball and press resistant.
Just a shame it's taken 2 years and an 85m flop to figure out we had a pretty good player to begin with. Amad is 22 so it's not like he's 18/19 like Kobbie.
Needs to stay in the team now for me.

I have to admit I didn't think Amad was going to make it.
Scored on his debut but then looked lightweight and raw when he played after that.
He then went to Rangers on loan and struggled.
Sunderland was far better but your still thinking it's just the Championship.
He looks to matured as player now though and for me he should be the 1st winger on the team sheet right now.
ETH made a mistake not starting him against Liverpool.

I don't think Amad starting that game over Rashford or Garnacho would have changed a great deal personally. We lost that game in central midfield and through incredibly poor individual errors from Casemiro twice and once from Mainoo.
It probably was harsh to drop him though I agree but if we are being brutally honest there was a lot more wrong in that game than Amad not starting.

Possibly not, but he doesn't have to start every game. I am just glad that he has been given the opportunity to prove himself, after banging his drum for some time.
His composure on the ball and interplay in and around the box give me great hope that he can be a very useful player for us. I think that he will build a good understanding with Zirkzee.

Amad, Kobbie and Zirkzee (and Mazraoui) are all clever footballers with a good radar for give-and-go opportunities. Not sure Bruno has quite developed a sense of how he can link up with Zirkzee yet, but if that relationship starts to fire, I think we've got the ingredients to build quite an entertaining attack.

I have thoughts about this! Kind of expanded on my comment above in a new article. Players predominantly operating in the same zone is a problem in Guardiola-style football, but working close together can be good in a brand of football that attempts quick interchanges. Especially if both players are high IQ.
