Second Fulham goal, ex arsenal combination, my son's loving that.
Excellent first half, SEB and Matt Murray enjoying the atmosphere
On top for the best part of an hour. Couldn't hold out. Story of thee season so far.
Table's not looking great.
Too good to go down?
Another deflected goal off Dawson
Our game management is shocking. So many fancy one touch flicks that don't come off and we just cough up possession
Fourteen goals conceded in five matches.
Wonder what the problem might be?
Enough is enough with playing a back 4. Practically conceding 3 goals a game and I was told by many on here last season that with a back 4 we'd be able to score more goals. RAN, supposedly a LB, has 3 Y cards from 5 and Semedo has 2 Y from 3. Both of these players were deemed by almost everyone on here to be better wingbacks than defenders yet our manager doesn't get it. Well GON, you've taken us to the bottom of the table, something I didn't think could happen, even with our tough start.
Larsen has failed in my book, primarily because our style doesn't suit an out and out CF. Gomes is woefully short of his best and has 3 Y from 5. Doyle isn't getting much of a sniff, but deserves to be starting. Guedes has showed he can find the net, yet sits on the bench.
Next up...Liverpool and I don't expect anything from that game either. I gave credit where it was due when GON came to the club, but with the quality players he has at his disposal, he's done a crap job at the latter end of last season and the start of this campaign.
At this rate, I fear we are in for a very tough time getting out of the bottom 3 by Xmas and if we are GON has yo go.
Problem seems to come when we make changes. Every substitution so far this season has made us weaker.
Very good first half when we were by far the better team. Great finish from Cunha. Certainly second best after the break. We dug in well to protect the lead for a long time but don’t think we made the right changes. Strange move to bring in Rodrigo Gomes when we needed some possession. Guedes for Bellegarde might have been a better change and leave Larsen on who gives us an out ball. Still looked like we might get away with a point until the injury to Mosquera which looked a bad one and unsettled the defence. Lemina asleep for their second and Santi Bueno for the third. Another game where there were plenty of positives but no good only playing well for 60 or 70 minutes
Sounds like we were pretty solid and doing reasonably well til we lost Mosquera. Not sure where a back five would have helped there.
The discussion is a tad irrelevant now anyway as we don't have 3 fit centre backs?
Fosun have sold GON short again. Make no mistake, we're going to need to spend big in January now.
we have a number of good players who have yet to become Prem League hardened, trouble is we may not have a lot of time for them to get there
In a Premier League table for this season based on half time results only, Wolves are 7th
Oh great, let's get the authorities to change the length of a match to 45 minutes. And you accuse me of writing rubbish!!!

To be fair Wolfie, what Spangles wrote isn't rubbish, for two reasons. Firstly, it's factually correct. Secondly, I assume, as most people would, that it was an observation submitted to demonstrate that we need to carry some of our reasonably good first half performances into the last 45 minutes of matches.
It raises a number of questions wulfrun. Firstly what is GON saying to the players at half time. If the objective is to sit on what we’ve got then that’s not working well. Secondly despite having a larger squad we do seem to be regularly making substitutions that make us weaker. Taking off Strand Larsen and bringing on Guedes lost us the out ball that Larsen provides well. And then to bring on Rodrigo Gomes, an inexperience wide man, when we needed to retain possession made even less sense to me.
It may well be factually correct Wulfrunnut, but the objective in the game of football is to win the game at FT. What we're not ding is seeing the game off after we score first. If GON is telling players to sit on what we've got, then he's not a very good coach. We need one who encourages to go forward and try and get a second.
Hello darkness my old friend…..
We’re swapping leagues come May girls.
Wait for it……
Look whats come out of the woodwork
Would seem pretty daft not to analyse all portions of the game wouldn't it?
I would hate to think GON goes into the dress down on a monday and says the first 70 minutes didn't matter because we lost?!?! That would be about as backward as you could get.

Cinci, you can sugar coat it and analyze any way you want, but the fact of the matter is, we're friggin' bottom of the friggin' league and with Liverpool coming up, likely to stay there.
We have good quality players, but as you and nearly everyone else have stated in the past, both RAN and Semedo are better suited as wing backs. However, they're both being used as fullbacks in a system which has us leaking goals like a sieve. Conceding almost 3 goals a game is not acceptable in my book. RAN already has 3 bookings, why, because he's not a defender.
Our issues have had little to do with a back four though.
How many goals from outside the box? None of them are due to a back four for a start.
Not seen the goals from the weekend but didn't two come after Mosquera went off, suggesting a downgrade in replacement or just a basic unsettling of a team that was up to that point solid.
If we go to a back five them one of Lemina, Joao Gomes or Andre probably isn't starting which to me isn't wise and of course that also means we are only playing 2 players with a genuine eye for goal each week. I don't see how that helps.
To me we are playing better than I expected overall early in the season, playing well for good chunks of games, I think if we stick at it we will be fine, I couldn't care less where we sit right now given the games we had early in the season. The judgement will come when we start playing teams we know we are better than but can't pick up results. End of November is the time to reassess for me.
