Spanner in the works here of course is losing Mosquera
Seems to me teams have figured us out to some extent. Stay in the game until the first round of substitutions and hit us hard when we are significantly weakened with each change.
Newcastle Villa Brighton and Chelsea all had better players on the bench than we have starting. It's not rocket science
November is quite rightly the time to judge. But for me the squad looks woefully short of genuine quality.
In addition, if a winger cuts in and drifts past his full back and is met with 3 centre backs, its obviously more difficult to get a shot off than meeting an aging 34 year old journeyman and a novice
Losing Mosquera is a huge blow and will probably mean sticking to a back 4.
Compare our 5 matches played thus far, to the same 5 teams last season. Result 5 points to 1. We did the double over Chelsea and Spurs, plus we beat Man City. We struggled a lot against the teams we should have picked up more points against, because we couldn't break them down. So I think I'm just, in highlighting the fact that we are bottom and very surprised that more aren't coming out and stating so.
I'm also surprised you're so complacent with our position, considering how negative you were for most of last season.

Great post mate
I'm also wondering whether all the deflected goals off Balon Dawson are due to his inability to get out of the way quick enough? Or get in the way quick enough?
Thoughts......
Think Dawson is fine honestly, not the long term answer of course but plenty good enough for this level currently. Johnstone is a concern if we were hoping he was an upgrade on Sa, I don't think he is at all. Doc sadly is past his best and we shouldn't be seeing much of him.
Toti or Santi to come in is a concern, neither to me are the step up we need. Mosquera was starting to get to grips with the prem and looked like he would be solid enough.

I think we are plenty good enough to stay up personally and won't shat the bed early season. Losing Mosquera concerns me of course, he was the Kilman replacement. Our midfield is excellent, our forward line is good enough for mid table, perhaps better.
Kilman hasn't covered himself with glory so far for the Hammers and Neto also not doing that well.

Often wondered about this naming the side well before KO. Why?
What's to stop you naming an 11, then saying 4 of them picked up small injuries in the warm, and changing side after you've seen the oppo?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Gyokeres smashing it again this term, 14 g+a for Sporting already after 55 g+a last season.
I keep hoping that Bueno might start to come good after a run of games, he's showed signs of being a competent defender from time to time. Has there been any news on Mosquera yet, more seen anything.
From what I've seen the problem isn't so much with the quality coming off the bench it's more that we completely lose our shape and to be blunt, all belief after substitutions.
Had to work in our company's Brum office today, you can see Villa Park from there usually, thankfully today you couldn't even see the ground, let alone the Villa ground.
So we’ve lost to the teams 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th in the league. And the next two home games are against the teams 1st and 2nd
Just the one respite when we played the team currently 8th and we drew with them away. So from a results perspective I guess 8th is the level we’re currently playing at

Problem with this “logic” is that the reason these teams are up the table is because they’ve all beaten us!

Now’s the time for Santi Bueno, he needs to step up. I thought he played really well against Burnley in the Carabao Cup but was caught napping for Villa’s third. Just a pity we have Liverpool and City coming up. Although logic will say the only reason they are high up the table at the end of October will be if they beat us
Awaiting news of the scan on Mosquera’s knee but he’s sure to be missing for some time. Initial reports suggest he has a medial ligament tear which would normally keep a player out for 2 months. But the scan might reveal an ACL injury which would be likely to keep him out for the rest of the season

Agreed.
MCL and ACL injuries confirmed for Mosquera. Highly unlikely he'll play again this season.
Gutted for him obviously. Don't know where this leaves us now until January, well in the cr@p clearly but in terms of selection until Toti and Meupiyou are fit again we're an injury away from a PL debut for Alfie Pond I guess.
No idea if Meupiyou will be anywhere near ready when he's fit either so could be Pond is next in line anyway.
Seriously. What an absolute fackin mess.
Fosun Out!
Certainly a big chance for Santi Bueno to prove himself. If he doesn’t succeed it could be one of the youngsters we bring in or maybe converting Semedo, Doherty or Lemina into a centre back.
With not signing a Kilman replacement, centre back always looked the most vulnerable part of the squad

Agreed. Together with left full back, winger and striker. 👍
Why is it always the hard way for Wolves. What were the odds of Mosquera getting injured for the season ffs
Every squad gets injuries but naturally they hurt a thin squad more and we always get them in positions where we have least cover.
Personally wish Fosun would sell up. Quite clear their plans were shelved several years ago.
The club definitely needs new management that understand the game and have a strategy for growth on and off the field. That requires the kind of sustained long term investment that Fosun promised when they first arrived. Believing you can progress by self sustenance at a club like Wolves is delusion. Maybe the long sought third party investors will one day arrive and allow Fosun to remain to give us a solid fiscal base whilst the newbies splash the cash.
But we desperately need Shi replacing, surely Guo can see that it's not working. The messaging, the general mismanagement of transfer policy, the ridiculous benchmarking statement a few months back. They need to loosen off a bit, get their own puppet out of the club and allow someone who understands that we're Wolverhampton not bloody Tottenham to take us forward. It won't happen though, they clearly don't work that way, we'll have another panic January like two years ago, paper over the cracks and neglect.the squad for another 2 or 3 years
I do think Jeff has too much power at the club and that’s been the case since he got rid of Dalrymple and Thelwell and didn’t replace them. But I think the problem lies deeper than Shi now and the club is in need of new owners.
Fosun have said the club needs to be self sufficient financially which is another way of saying they aren’t going to invest any more new money in the club. Transfer windows now are about selling good players and then spending some but not all of the proceeds on players that might bring in the next £40m windfall.
Trouble with that policy is that it will always be a step backwards before hopefully moving forward again. Even the likes of Cunha and Neto were not stars in their first season so it was always going to be the case that Rodrigo Gomes, Forbs, Lima were going to need time.
Now we have added Andre who alongside Cunha and Joao Gomes will be the next source of a big money sale.
And the overdue development of Molineux seems very much on the back burner despite the fact that extra revenue from increased attendances is the very essence of overcoming the PSR restrictions.
We need new owners with new investment if we’re going to keep pace with the clubs that have overtaken us in recent seasons like Newcastle, Villa and Brighton.
