Looks like I watched a different game to those on the match day thread because I thought that was a performance that highlighted exactly why Joseph needs to start.
I didn’t think we were wasteful in front of goal either. In fact we doubled our xG.
I’ve found a lot of the talk on here about need to get Piroe into the team and also the talk of how close Farke is to the sack a bit strange tbh. Just seems so far away from reality. Even seen it suggested that if we are on 21 points after Sheff Utd (11 games) he will be sacked by the club. It’s just an impossible scenario and clearly not something the 49ers are going to do.
Farke has his faults, as do all the players, if they didn’t they wouldn’t be in the championship. But there’s so much about the start we have seen to suggest we are favourites to win the league. The fact that it’s been almost impossible for any sides to create a proper chance against is the biggest factor. And yet despite us breaking Championship records for conceding the least amount of shots fans are saying we have a shaky defence.
I’m just a bit confused by it all tbh.
Yep, DF is safe atm, as far as I’m concerned anyway. Our clean sheets also suggest our defence is doing perfectly fine👍
I’m on the side of starting him up front in a lot of games, but when he came on we saw both sides of him. Misplaced 4 passes out of his first 6, in the right place to score a goal, then anonymous the rest of the game.
I think against the better teams we should go with Joseph, but most Championship fodder, Piroe should start.

Yep, someone on here (can’t recall who - sorry!) said maybe MJ to start, run the opposition ragged and then Piroe comes on to get the goal … ?
Also, I think it’s relevant to acknowledge that none of Piroe’s goals have been the opener … he’s scored once we’ve already got the first one and perhaps the game has opened up a bit for him as the opposition have had to go searching for an equaliser … ?
Anyone got a link to stats from yesterday, I cant find any.
Id be shocked if his pass completion was anywhere near 50%

It’s definitely the best time for him to be on.
In his defence last season he did get some important goals - first goals in games, winners.
He has had some good games when starting for us - Ipswich at home, Millwall away, Swansea away and Norwich in playoffs the ones that stand out
Both Joseph and Piroe lost possession 6 times.
Joseph from 26 touches and Piroe from just 12.
So the opposition were just as likely to receive the ball from Piroe as we were.
Joseph was also receiving the ball in much tighter situations as Coventry were packing the defence. Once Piroe came on the game was more open due to the score line and he was receiving in space.
Piroe is effective and seems to be happy coming on when the game is practically won and putting the game to bed, Joseph, despite not scoring as many as he would wish is nonetheless effective and seems to be happy in helping to create that scenario. Am I naïve in thinking it is unlikely to work as effectively the other way round?
Why change things?
We are winning. Whatever we are doing is working. No need to change anything for me. Start Joseph and bring Piroe on as a sub. I was frustrated as anyone v Cardiff but yesterday was a much better all round performance i thought.

That was me, LB. Interestingly, Farke gave him a little more time yesterday, alongside Joseph. He didn’t do much, apart from scoring. But then again, we’ve had plenty of strikers who didn’t do much, and didn’t score. It must be tough for him at the moment. He gets 15 or 20 minutes to prove himself. How is he supposed to build partnerships with his teammates, or understandings of the system, when he only gets a few minutes game time, and when he is under pressure to do just one thing? Maybe I am wrong to think that we should keep him as an impact sub. After all, if we are prepared to give Joseph time, does Piroe deserve that too?
Piroe’s had loads of time.
We know exactly what we are getting with him and what he is and isn’t capable of.
Leeds have faced the lowest xG (3.8), lowest xG in open play (1.8), fewest shots (47), fewest touches in their own box (67), fewest big chances (2) and have the joint most clean sheets (5) of any Championship team this season. #lufc

Sure. But players should be developing all the time … maybe Piroe deserves another chance as a starter?
I thought we looked excellent yesterday. We still have
trouble finishing. But yesterday it felt like we battered
them. We created tons of good opportunities. Really
solid , professional performance. From everyone.
On Piroe, I really like him. He is our most clinical finisher.
However, I love Mateo. Trouble is how Farke or the team
are playing right now. We attack down our wings (no
shocker there). Difference is Gnonto and Largie are a
lot like Cree, in that they want to take on the shot and
so cut in like Cree did and shoot themselves. It left
Mateo looking for rebounds. As opposed to the way
Solomon plays the wing. He likes to drive to the line
and cross for whoever's in the middle.
Mateo is a beast of a player. And he's much faster and
more athletic than Piroe. He looked like a young
Bamford at times yesterday. But more athletic and
more aggressive. I was hopeful when Piroe and
Mateo were together for that short spell where Piroe
scored. I like that scenario. Saying that, Mateo starts
for me.
Overall, I've calmed down. Because the team looks
light years better than everyone so far. And we're still
getting better. 10 games in, we'll know where we
are. Injuries though are the big worry.

Piroe.
Ganes are won in a minute with a single chance, however they are played over 90.
Piroe coming on at the back end of a game when defenses are tired and more exposed works.
He is the best finisher, he isn't the best runner, maker of space etc.
Use the other players to get him into a game.
