Thoughts from tonight

Feels like 2 points dropped in the context of the game.
Completely had them on the ropes until Farkes substitutions made us worse AGAIN!.
From looking like Leeds were the only winner, to Norwich becoming the only winner at the switch of a player. How he does this consistently is beyond me.
Took all width off and killed our press allowing Norwich to finally get their passing game going.
Really frustrating.

Other negative was Firpo - shocking. Played like he was drunk.

Looking back at the season it may be a welcome point but we should have got 3 against Pompey, should have got at least 1 against Burnley and should have had 3 tonight. Like last season the question remains why dont we get the points the performance merits.

substitutions feel formulaic, 70 mins and 83mins, rather than when needed for whatever reason.

Bamford looks so far off the pace it's embarrassing.

Just bring Piroe in for Joseph & leave Ramazani on ffs.

Yep just read that Farke had pre-determined that Ramazani could only play 60 minutes due to him not being ready to withstand the intensity of the championship. Wanted to protect the remaining wingers in view of Solomon/James out. Kept him on to the 70th due to his performance but said he was struggling.

So regardless of how the game was going he would keep more or less to the plan. I didnt see a player struggling and both he and Gnonto looked absolutely fine. He didnt protect Roden or Struijk our only 2 centre back choices.

Farke seems happy with his point.

The problem now as I see it is Farke's going to pretty much repeat his substitution policy, game in game out and I suspect like a politician has his excuses/reasoning already prepared in advance and will never like Bielsa, hold up his hand and take responsibility for any clear errors of judgement which Farke is consistently guilty of but unfortunately I think the boat has sailed now in regards to upgrading the coach which means he is here for the forceeable and we just have to hope his team can get another 90 points because if they do, that should guarantee a top 2 finish and then the owners must decide if DF is likely to repeat his two previous EPL experiences and decide to thank him for his service and employ a coach more likely to help the club survive and establish itself in the Premier League which I personally don't think Farke would be able to do.

Biggest takeaway for me is the reality that, despite the
genius football minds on here screaming that we are
going to walk this league, we aren't. We started with a
top 6 squad. That's populated by fragile players.

I don't know what data or scouting is leading to us
signing player after player who is made of glass? Or
doesn't fit the manager's system. It's bizarre.

Now we have to hope that Rodon & Struck stay fit
for 8 weeks. Hopefully, Wober will be back fit by then
to offer a cushion. Otherwise, I can see this season
unravelling faster than hot sh_t off a shovel.

^^^

He's the most passive CF in the division. Garbage.
If he ends up being the week in week out CF we are
so royally fcked.

If he played for Oxford United, doing what he does
for us, people would be saying "why is he still in the
league, he's stealing a living."

We might not see players struggling but remember they are all wired up and the coach can see if they are struggling well before we can. I did notice that some were struggling in the final quarter of the game but my feed here in Portugal was crappy so I could be wrong.

From what I did see we had the chances to win this game.

Been saying this for a while. While he occasionally does pull off a worldy, overall he can depart in the same taxi as Bamford for me.

I said other day a draw wouldn't be a bad result. Some weird over reactions on here as usual. Subs were weird. Felt like we would have gone on to win it before the subs were made. Thought Tanaka played well to say he had to play a deeper role once Gruev was injured. I hope hes okay. Gruev has hes been playing well recently.

My take on it.

Rodon and Struyk, worst performance of season, very sloppy first half.

Bogle, after a poor start this season, getting better and better

Nothing wrong with firpo

AO - thought did very well, neat and tidy and moves the ball forward

Rothwell - different to rest of midfield, drives the ball forward, will be important in next three months.

Willy, best player in the league

Razzi, took goal lovely, works hard

Aaronsson, busy without doing alot but not without trying.

Joseph - not alot of service, can believe people are writting him off, playing the hardest position in football.

Bamford - poor

Piroe - worst than Bamford, passing completion is disgusting low.

Geldhart, came on too late and then wrong position, its unfair on him.

Ref was an utter disgrace, should have penalty.

The five sub rule, I think needs changing back to three. Whilst its not rules fault for a manager bringing on 5 players, too many games are getting ruined by multiple
subs.

Farke, has there ever been a worse manager for subs. Always makes us worst.

We had them by the throat, disappointing

Morning all🌞.

To add my thoughts (only watched the highlights on Sky plus the two post-match pressers with DF and Rothwell) … stupid lunge by Rodon and definite penalty … Meslier seemed to watch it into the net and should have saved it … Gnonto looked lively and was desperately unlucky with the shot against the post … Gnonto/Ramazani partnership gives me hope for autos this season … however Rothwell/Tanaka partnership needs some time πŸ‘πŸ˜

From a Norwich forum:

Entertaining game with some odd refereeing decisions which spoilt things a bit, City definitely moving in the right direction but I think Sargent needs help up front, only one shot on target (the penalty) at home is poor. Leeds might feel disappointed with a draw but they look better than last season after a re-build again over the summer.

Add to that, despite the fact the 'we should be beating Norwich' comments - they are 11 months unbeaten at home and were never going to roll over for Leeds of all teams.

I was frustrated with some of the sloppy passing to be honest, but, can also see that when we click, definitely more of a unit there than last seasons reliance on individual magic.

Can we unstick Sunderland - I think so, hope so, but would also take a point from another tough away game going into the break.

Thought we were the better side and if Norwich are one of the better ones then it would be embarrassing if we didn't get promoted. Thought everyone played well, Rodon and Struijk had hot and cold moments but we don't have any weak areas. Tanaka looks tidy and will be very good once up to speed. Game was killed when we took Gnonto and Ramazani off, Bamford shouldn't be anywhere near the squad right now, miles off it. Would take a point at Sunderland although champions tend to still win the tougher games.

A very good report on why things were changed with twenty minutes to go.

We have to trust the coaching staff and remember it’s a marathon not a sprint. Friday is a tough game - not a title decider but a good indication of where we are with this weakened squad.

I dont understand how playing 70-80 odd minutes is any much better than playing the full 90?

Unless on a booking, absolutely. Gnonto could have done another 7-8 minutes and probably would have created atleast 1 more chance.

If we fail to get a result on Friday then Farke's substitution policy and reasoning last night goes up in smoke.... You should capitalise on your clear dominance in the game in question get the 3 points and then think of your next match afterwards.

Had we not been on top of Norwich when the subs were made then fair enough but last night's decision making process by Farke was a vital 3 point opportunity missed by his passive negative sabotaging actions in my opinion but fingers crossed the team in spite of DF can make up for those 2 dropped points last night and do us proud against Sunderland.

Mes earning us a point with a great save but being slammed for not saving a penalty is pretty much what I would expect.

We have conceded fewer goals than all of two teams got a draw against a team that just don't lose at home yet the fault is with mes and not with our forwards led by a player who for all his hard work doesn't score.
