Ouch, I really used to enjoy Octoberfest. That was enough to drive you to drink. Cheers 🍻
A continuation of Rodgers and Ange thinking they can play how they do v Dundee United against good teams in Europe.
Heavy dose of realism required, that style works when your the big dogs, it's asking for a beating when you try it against good teams.
The madness is, Celtic keep doing it and don't learn from it.

Obstinate and stubborn as fvck seems to be the tone of the quotes coming from BR after the game. Infuriating.
Will he compromise his approach to these games ? "No"
Everyone can tolerate getting beat by a clearly superior side but at the very least make it as difficult as possible for the opposition.
Atalanta will be a repeat. They stopped Arsenal scoring in week 1.
playing a high line against the quickest players in Europe with a back line that's not the quickest is either arrogant or delusional. when we got it back to 1-1, we should have sat in for a 5 minutes and reset. then open up on the counter. We were like lambs to the slaughter, so embarrassing! Why do we never learn!
This sums it up pretty well …

Does anybody think that if we parked the bus it would have been any different?
Teams routinely come to parkhead and park the bus and still leaving with a doing.
Simple fact is our 2 most expensive players wouldn't even make their academy. Never mind matchday squad.
Listening to lennon last night was painful.
Talking about sitting deep and hitting long balls. Its no wonder hes not in a job with those dinsouar tactcs.
The game has moved on significantly and the get stuck in mentality doesn't work anymore.
If anybody was expecting a result against last years finalists at their 80,000 stadium when your the worst pot 3 team needs a reality check.
They also had a night where everything they hit just went in.
Like us on Saturday we just happened to catch them on a hot streak and boy did we get punished.
The main focus for us is to win our home games.
Last night was always expected to be a defeat but we win our home games and we can still go through.
Lennon was right, which really irks me because he wasn't big on the ole "tactics" when he was in charge.
but even he knew when you play barcelona and co you need to be compact and look to utilise pace whenever you get a chance.
Theres a reason Samaras was dangerous for us in europe.

We pumped them there when it could be argued they had a better squad. Admittedly a bit of a fluke.
They are 5th in their league, were 5th last season. Their CL run was also a fluke.
Nobody expects any Scottish team going there to win but they do expect them to be good enough not to get battered 7-1.
Sometimes those results happen but Celtic are flying. This isn't like a rag tag Rangers side in an injury crisis getting pumped rotted off one of the best teams in Europe when we played Liverpool. The only surprise there was they didn't give us a major doing at Anfield too.
So it comes back to what's obvious. Rodgers can't manage when he's the underdog.

Watch the game they were flying last night. They would have pumped real madrid last night the way they played.
Was nice to see even at 7-1 our boys were still chasing lost causes and tracking back in the 85th minute.
A sore one but we still have a chance to get through.
We gifted them time and space, the tactics were naive and its not a one off.
Our manager sets us up really poorly against superior teams. He's deluded.
Real Madrid wouldn't have let them play like that though.
Definitely still got a chance to get through, beat the minnows you've drawn and the results against the good teams won't matter.
Until you face one in the knockout and get pumped.
Leipzig at home. Got to fancy your chances but there's a chance you go toe to toe and pay the price.
Brugge and Young Boys at home you need to win and should do even if you set up going toe to toe.
Zagreb away should be another win but given your away record could see that being fooked up.
Villa and Atlanta away games, can't see you doing anything in.
My guess would be you could will 9 more points and be safely through with a helping hand from the luck of the draw.
Real Madrid wouldn't have let them play like that though.

Same here, but he’s bang on the money in that article. Every single word of it.
Of course, there’s an argument that it’s pretty hard to set us up defensively, given we don’t really have a defensive-minded midfielder at the club … and (bar CCV and AJ) our actual defenders are pash! Could certainly play far deeper than last night’s seemingly kamikaze high line though. It would also help defensively if most (all?) of our team didn’t consistently wet the bed in possession of the football, every time we go away in Europe. The best way to avoid conceding is actually to be capable of retaining possession. In the less than 10 mins I watched at the start, it was already apparent we were in rabbit in headlights mode with the ball.
They also had a night where everything they hit just went in.
------------------------------------------------------------------
BD had 16 shots and 13 attempts on target. Just saying.
Last night was a sore one for Celtic but Dortmund are class - I dont think anyone would argue with that.
Ironically I think the nature and extent of the drubbing was as a result of Brendan (and Celtics?) key attributes that make them so successful domestically.
Brendan has Celtic believing they are world beaters and he believes he is a world class manager. The truth is that with the resources they have they are just about the right amount better than the teams they face domestically - and I include Rangers in that.
Brendan is great at bigging up the players to believe they are so good they become virtually untouchable domestically. We saw it with guys like Scott Brown in the past. He is very good at getting the most out of some players at least.
Its the arrogance that goes with that which is Rodgers undoing in Europe. Its not just some sly Jedi mind trick with Rodgers - he actually believes he is top class and he seems to believe his players are better than they are and can succeed in Europe as long as they do what he says.
Celtic could be better in European games like last night with a better set up and approach. They still dont have the players for that level but it didnt need to be as bad.
Celtic will have a terrific season domestically - there is no doubt about that. Rangers are a work in progress cobbled together with free transfers, loans and pay you next year promises.
Celtic fans can choose to embrace the wee arrogant beller and enjoy stomping on the heads of everyone domestically or get upset that when it comes down to it, on a different stage, they really arent great shakes and hate Brendan for it because hes an arrogant wee beller. The two dont really work together.
Rangers team will take absolute doings this year in Europe as well. Unfortunately it wont be because our manager is an arrogant beller - its because our playing squad is still a bit of an unconvincing work in progress.
When Celtic dominate teams domestically...we forced those mistakes coz we are the dugs baws
