In Three Worlds: Memoirs of an Arab-Jew, Shlaim unveils "undeniable proof of Zionist involvement in the terrorist attacks" which prompted a mass exodus of Jews from Iraq between 1950 and 1951. The historian believed that most of the bombings against Jews in Iraq were the work of Mossad. He believed Mossad took these actions to quicken the transfer of 110,000 Jews in Iraq to the then-newly created state of Israel.

Or maybe wrong

Yeah, should I believe someone that’s lived and experienced these events or a Brit that lives in France with absolutely no ties to the Middle East claiming that precise person is actually wrong?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm just making the point that I'm sure the BBC and national newspapers also have people who's voice they can report.
Then it becomes a choice who you believe. Then people choose who to believe according to their own views.

Why the absolute fack should I listen to what the western media has to say about Palestine? They’re all in Israel’s coat pocket and they’re compromised, just like you are. Why should I listen to the media that refuses to call Israel a terror state?

I’d prefer to believe people that actually grew up and saw how Israel was formed.

Anyway we won't agree, and I don't want to spend the evening being called idiot or worse.

Israel is largely surrounded by countries which want peace and justice, 52.

.....

This...just can't be true. Considering about 60 years ago there was over a million jews in the middle east and now theres only estimated 15,000.

I don't know enough about the conflict tbh and feel that people still believe in fairytales to be all quite silly in this day and age.

But I did see a documentary of someone who interviewed people in isreali and palestinian terrorities. Could have been heavily edited but the israeli civilians said how they wish for peace and a two state solution, and palestinians wanted the destruction of israel.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you watch the video in my post?

If not, here it is again: the foreign minister of Jordan, representing 57 Arab and Muslim countries across the entire Middle East and beyond, promising to “unequivocally” “guarantee the safety of Israel” if it ends its illegal occupation of foreign lands:

What Nick said there unfortunately is the level most people are at and that's why you still see support for the regime in Israel. Everything is just simple 1+1=2 for some people and they strive to keep it so. The moment it becomes clear that things are more complicated, they quit and digress.

He doesn't know why the number of Jews has reduced, he just knows they've reduced and therefore Jews aren't safe in the middle east, while also admitting he doesn't know much about the conflict. If you don't know much about something then you shouldn't make conclusions because they're likely gonna be half baked.

I love how these threads always go. A great snapshot of modern society.

Israel are massive cants, that is obvious. But it is the laughable image of the Arab world being painted as innocent victims that is ridiculous. A society that humiliates and suppresses women, and the less said about the views toward he LBGTQ community the better. A society that has orchestrated slavery for centuries, arguably even now in Qatar and Dubai, and a society that has instigated wars with itself for centuries.

Who’s painting the ‘Arab world’ as innocent victims? Most sane people on this thread are painting the tens of thousands of children amongst others being slaughtered by advanced weaponry for no good reason for nearly a year now as the reason why anyone with a soul is outraged.

Whatever the ‘Arab worlds’ belief systems are in your opinion in no way validates what Israel is doing and that is war crimes in a genocide. Would you say stuff like ‘the Naazis are caaaants but…’?

One day the world will look back on this past 12 months and wonder why more wasn’t done to stop what’s going on. Hopefully by that point you understand what’s actually happening rather than amuse yourself as snapshots of society

The current levelling of Gaza is one of those campaigns, like the Indonesian genocide in East Timor, that will see people who are presently defending or ignoring it look back on in years to come and make blasé revisionist statements about: “Of course, we were all horrified by and utterly condemning it at the time…”

posted on 4/10/24

I remember very well the campaign against and (obscene) debate around the UK delivering Hawk jets to the Indonesian government *on credit* after the Indonesian air force had carpet bombed villages, massacring tens of thousands of civlians in East Timor.

The fact that we’re now having to re-run that campaign and debate over the provision and servicing of F-15s being used by the Israelis over the open air prison which is Gaza is a national disgrace, which should have every British man and woman feeling shame.

posted on 4/10/24

I've watched the video above. Impressive, if Iran is willing to sign Israel should agree today, and make reparations in Gaza.

This is just a clever way to suck Israel's cok. It's whataboutery. Nobody has tried to make out like Arabs are innocent victims. You have made that up to use it as a premise for your otherwise nonsense point.

"The true interest of the US government? Control of the region and is its own financial gain.

Over the past year of Israel’s relentless bombing that has killed at least 46,000 Palestinians, including at least 16,500 children, with the true death toll probably much higher, the stock prices of leading US weapons manufacturers have been soaring.

Their bottom line is boosted by the fact that the only condition placed by the US government on its $18bn slush fund for the Israeli military, is not on how those bombs may be used, but instead on how they must be bought.

Israel is stipulated to purchase from US weapons manufacturers. In turn, two such leading corporations, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, have posted staggering record-breaking returns.

Meanwhile, at least 50 members of Congress or their spouses are owners of their stock. While they should be voting based on the will of their constituents, they have profits to gain from voting to send billions of dollars in military funding to Israel while it carries out a genocide."
