It’s not just possible, it’s probable, and it’s what we’ve all been waiting for…
I don't think there's any reason that he should be considered for any role at United tbf.
He did a decent job for England but he had one of the best squads in the International game and lost against 3 nations with inferior squads in all 3 major tournaments imo.

It's obviously just speculation on my part but Southgate is well respected within the English set up and having him on board at United could help us get access to the top English talent.
Jim has mentioned in the past having a British spine through the club so it would align with that.
This is what will happen, bookmark
Stage 1 - People (rightly) don’t want him
Stage 2 - The speculation becomes rabid and some people start to accept it and make arguments in favour of him using generic logic
Stage 3 - He’s appointed and 99% of people on here suddenly come round to the idea and say stuff like ‘he’s a good man manager and that’s what we need’
Stage 4 - a few weeks into a very beige season the likes of Plump and a couple of others become die hard Southgaters and defend the indefensible saying ‘we can’t just keep sacking managers’
Stage 5 - when we lose 5-0 at home to Blackburn he’s finally sacked and then people campaign for Giggs to return

So you're saying you don't think he's right for a non-coaching role because he didn't excel as a coach? That doesn't make much sense to me.
I've always seen Southgate as an excellent figurehead who is skilled at building a great team culture, while deploying fairly simple, reactive tactical models. The tactical side may be to do with his limitations, or may have been a deliberate calculation based on assessment of what is achievable with a team that only trains together about 5% as much as a club side would. Either way, we certainly don't have evidence that he's qualified to be put in charge of our coaching. However, I wouldn't have a problem bringing in Southgate as someone responsible for motivating players and getting the whole playing and coaching staff united and pushing in the same direction.
Either way, we certainly don't have evidence that he's qualified to be put in charge of our coaching

Don't get the fascination of our fanbase with Southgate potentially taking over. It won't happen for one simple reason.....I haven't met a single United fan who wants him. That's a recipe for a titanic type disaster if there ever was one.
He will know that himself to a degree and so will INEOS. Nothing good (at least for us) can come from his appointment.

I am not advocating him being manager. I mean more a General Manager type role overseeing the head coach. Could be an alien model for some but he did good work for England IMO in many aspects.

I know it probably won't happen but it's an international break and thought it was worth a discussion.
I don't think setting a culture and direction would be much different though between club and international football.
I honestly think he would do a decent job at United. He would change the culture at the club which is clearly your biggest issue, and also has a history of successfully developing youngsters. Not saying he would win you major trophies or anything, but he could at least turn things around in the short term before passing the job on to a manager capable of winning major trophies.

To be fair, we said the same about Ole.
Ineos have come out and said the target is to win the league by 2028 so you’d think the next guy has to be ‘the guy’ rather than someone to build for another.
