Point of order: it's not that time of year yet. When did was it that every holiday started having a 6-week lead-in?

Yes, I've turned into the old man shaking fist at cloud meme.

Titanic probably my favourite. What was meant to be the dream voyage turned into everyone's worst nightmare.

In the frigid depths of the Atlantic Ocean, a colossal, unsinkable ship sets sail, carrying thousands of hopeful souls on a voyage of dreams. But beneath the surface of this maritime marvel lurks a sinister force, a lurking threat that will plunge the vessel into a terrifying abyss.

As the ship encounters a monstrous iceberg, its majestic hull is torn open, revealing a gaping wound. Water seeps in, a chilling specter that creeps through the vessel, turning the once-grand ship into a labyrinth of terror. Panic erupts as passengers scramble to escape the rising flood, their screams echoing through the deserted corridors.

The Titanic, once a symbol of hope and progress, becomes a death trap, a haunting testament to the power of nature. As the ship sinks into the icy depths, its survivors are left to face the ultimate nightmare: the haunting memories of a disaster that will forever be seared into their souls.

I know it's not a film, a while back I started reading Gullermo (?) del Torro's The Strain. Lasted 3 chapters then threw it across the room.

Title: The Wembley Nightmare
[Scene 1: A packed Wembley Stadium, the crowd roaring with anticipation.]

Narrator (Ominous): They came to witness a triumph. But what awaited them was a nightmare.

[Scene 2: Quick cuts of England's chaotic play, missed chances, and defensive errors.]

Narrator: A team possessed by doubt, haunted by past glories.

[Scene 3: A close-up of Carsley's face, filled with shock and disbelief.]

Carsley (Voiceover): I made a mistake. A terrible mistake.

[Scene 4: The Greek goal, a chilling shot of the net rippling.]

Narrator: The darkness had descended. And England was its prey.

[Scene 5: A montage of dejected English players, their faces etched with despair.]

Narrator: The Wembley Nightmare. A tale of terror, a cautionary tale for all.

[Final shot: A haunting image of Wembley Stadium, empty and desolate.]

Narrator: They came as conquerors. They left as victims.

It’s a trilogy, I’ve read all three and thought it was great.

To be fair to Greece they were by far the better team. Should have been 5-1 Greece

What a load of bolloks, who actually gives a fek about Halloween outside of America?

Recently watched Bone Tomahawk. Sort of a "horror western" really, with one infamous scene that is a really difficult watch.

I generally prefer suspense to gore. I like The Blair Witch Project. Probably haven't seen anything more effective than the original Ring.

Bone Tomahawk is excellent.
Kurt Russell is in some of my all time favourites, Big trouble in little China, escape from New York, Hateful eight

He's great in Bone Tomahawk. Probably my favourite role of his is in Deepwater Horizon.

October and November are so grim generally that I don't begrudge people brightening things up with a few early decorations and stuff.

Yes that scene in question shook me up a bit and I normally have a strong stomach for violence and gore.

As far as scariest horror films, I still think The Exorcist and Alien are very effective for that. The Autopsy of Jane Doe was a recent good one which sends tingles down the spine.

Really good horror movies are a bit of a dying breed now.

I still maintain that the original Saw movie is one of the greatest horrors of all time. Sadly turning it into a never ending and ridiculous franchise kind of ruined the mystique for me though. As a stand alone film though I think it holds up very well. A great concept and executed very well.

Feel same way about the Matrix despite that being a different genre. The subsequent releases ruined what was a perfect film that needed no sequel.

The fascination with turning every semi successful horror film into a long running franchise needs to stop.
