Probably click bait but losing him wouldn't be a loss.

I can't find any quotes of him saying he wants to leave as the many articles are suggesting

No, they seem to make assumptions based on his awful record for United and his unblemished reputation in Italy.

Good and intelligent short passer. And given a run of games will offer something different to Bruno in the same position

I created an article about him a few days back & bloodred describes him as a player who looks like Berbatov one moment and Bellion the next which is the most accurate description I've seen.

Too soon to write him off but he has to improve. We've played some of our better football when he's been on the pitch this season.

Tbf when Gakpo first arrived, he looked bobbins to me, but slowly and surely he’s worked his way to becoming a great option. It would be a bizarre decision to loan him out 6 months after signing him with no pre-season though, so good chance it happens.

I think Zirkzee can be a good foil for our wingers to get in behind, the issue is he’s terrible in the box and his decision making isn’t great, he needs to learn when to make the one touch passes and when the hold the ball.

I think he’s just getting used to the speed of the game in the league. At times he looks like Berbatov but others like Fellaini.

Its obviously too early to write him off but its not been a great start for him. He offers TH someting different in a 10 position but hes up against Bruno and its a tough one for Erik to upset Bruno. And yes he does have a look of another Fellaini. The only way to test him is to give him a run of games in that position without Bruno. Cant see thst happening with United where we are in the Pl table right now. Unless of course it works immediately.

I don’t think we can accommodate a false 9 who doesn’t score goals, when our wide forwards are just and inept at putting the ball in the net.

I saw a glimpse against palace of a player bringing others into play, but that isn’t what we need when our wingers need 5 clear cut chances to score one goal.

RBW,

I agree with that. Unfortunately, the club is determined to persevere in the illusion that Bruno and Rashford are world class, so they’re undroppable.

I remember a time when foreign players were given time to settle, some hit the ground running some took a season, not any more. He cost a pretty penny so if he's not fire instantly he's a dud.

Liverpool had a non scoring number 9 for years in Firmino and they were happy with his lack of goals. I think I saw a few times their fans celebrating him missing chances because they much preferred a NON goalscoring number 9 to a goalscoring one.

How about we give Zirkzee similar treatment so that he knows that we appreciate having a non goalscoring number 9? Next time he misses a good chance, cheer. It will help give our non goalscoring number 9 confidence and maybe help him miss some more chances in the future.

I love non goalscoring number 9s.

If thst is the case then TH will have to accept that he will.live or die by the selections he makes. Same with the other players like Antony. It seems thst when yhe chips ate down as they are atm TH trusts many of the players he inherited, over than the ones he was involved in bringing to the club often..

It was a completely pointless purchase, yet again.

Rasmus is the better player and will be playing the majority of games you'd think so I'm not sure what plan Eth had for Zirkzee?
Are people really seeing him as a Bruno replacement?

Playing in Bruno’s position. Plenty have proffered that.

I read a thought-provoking thread the other day that discussed, among other things, the possibility of a tactical evolution to 4-4-2 under ETH's successor, and it was suggested that Zirkzee could have been bought, as a player with quite an unusual skill set, who could add long-term value in this tactical future.

https://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/464326

In any case, it was well known at the time of his purchase that he isn't a traditional 9 who can stretch defenders with pace and turn into a high volume goal scorer. If everyone else knew that, we can conclude that the recruitment team knew it too, and probably didn't buy him with a view to depth/competition for Hojlund's role in the team. To me he looks like a transfer made with an eye on the longer term squad composition, rather than for short-term impact.

Everyone is free to disagree with the sporting management's strategy here, but it's silly to condemn the player as a flop based on him not being the profile you were hoping he was.
