Clement, Ten Haag and Cerny look like the deterioration of someone who has been at 1 too many parties with Freddie Mercury?

I'm delighted Ten Haag is gone. Wanted him gone last season. Total fraud of a coach who lucked out with a generational Ajax squad.

It's been a chore watching Utd lately but hopefully some long term planning in place. Wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Xavi or Eddie Howe linked though half expect Jose to get touted yet again

This - and with the succession of coaches they've had since Fergie they clearly had no idea of what the club DNA or desired style they want to play and just hiring guys like they threw darts blindfold.

Do the cants ever look at Brighton, Southampton, Brentford and think to themselves what is it they're doing right we could emulate instead of spunking money and crossing fingers.

Not sure Brentford or Southampton are perfect examples but your point is valid in that look at how the top teams are set up nowadays.

Man Utd still think of themselves as a powerhouse (correctly) but if you compare them even to just Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool never mind Real or Barca they are years behind.

Even looking at Carrington it is dated. While the success under Ferguson was phenomenal there are few like him who control everything. there was never any real succession planning or modernising until it was too late.

SAF admitted at a Q&A thing I went to in Glasgow years ago that Moyes was not the first choice. Yet all of the options before him were approached far too late so Moyes was next on the list.

If Utd want to continue their DNA of being a great counter attacking team like they were under SAF then they need to identify a manager that fits that bill. What they cannot do is go to a Xavi who will be all about possession football to an all out attacking manager to a conservative defensive manager.

For the record I think Brentofrd have done a great job but their model relies on the identified players being not just a technical fit but a personality fit. All it takes is one bad window and they are in trouble. I'd even say Brighton are similar but the money made in sales puts them safe for a couple of seasons

United are just finding themselves back at their normal level.
I get that a lot of people have an emotional attachment to them but other than the Fergie and, to a lesser extent, Busby years they've been remarkably unsuccessful.
They'll probably get relegated again in a few years.

You could argue that about most English teams. They all had spells of success but longer spells of nothingness

Totally agree but they generally don't have the delusions of grandeur that united have.Fergie saved that club. To be fair, they stuck with him and invested heavily.

Biggest mistake they made was sacking Moyes, the self entitled whankers.

Was always going to be a huge act to follow in Ferguson who in turn lucked out against a pee the pants Chelsea side for their last league win.

Moyes was given no time at all.

He does appear to be one of the next generation of top coaches

Definitely a good appointment if they manage it
