Good manager but surely not a fit for United. You need someone proven at a big club. Nagelsmann seems like a good bet.

Brentford's style aligns with Thomas Frank and vice versa, embracing the underdog tag who happily cede possession. However, that style doesn’t fit the football I’d want at Utd. Frank seems better suited to a "David" rather than a "Goliath" type club; United, as a club, comes with intense fanbase scrutiny and external media pressure, with a spotlight on every player. I don't believe Frank has the experience at the very elite level the challenges a club like Utd would pose. He's a fine manager, just not right for us.

Whilst I’d happily give Nagelsmann a shot, we’ve gone down the route of managers doing it at big clubs many times and where has it got us?
im pretty sure an organisation like INEOS wouldnt have sacked their manager, 4 months after backing him and giving him a contract extension, (then even allegedly, conducting a round of interviews for his position, whilst he was still in the job to various named candidates), unless they had somebody lined up to take over. Or at least I hope they wouldnt have.

Faulty logic there, I think. I mean, you've paid players a lot of money and they haven't won the league so should you stop paying players lots of money? Obviously you need a manager that can handle the pressure at United. Moyes couldn't, Mourinho could but terrible football. Tent Peg started being ridiculous.
Look at Flick at Barca - he's come in and calmed everything down and they're doing great.

The spotlight is firmly on Ashworth, as the season has taken an unexpected turn. We must get the next managerial appointment right. Sacking EtH less than three months into a new season, despite backing him in the transfer market, suggests they didn’t have a replacement lined up. This raises questions, if the preferred candidate was available over the summer, why not make the change then? Conversely, if they’re targeting someone newly available, then poor results may have forced their hand. For all we know the decision to retain or sack EtH may have split the board, opting for quiet caution over a summer reset.
Now, we wait with bated breath to see who will succeed EtH. Regardless, this latest mess does not cover the new sporting leadership team in glory.

I would hope so too. However, I do feel he was always on thin ice this season and I think it was after the Liverpool game that I said I didn't think they'd need too many more excuses to pull the trigger. Perhaps van Nistelrooy as an interim for quite a while simply is "the plan".

Haha yes 34 isn't that old really, but during my teenage years I used to obsess over football. Follow the different leagues, know the starting line ups of half the PL teams week in week out and I guess just be absorbed in it all.
As time has gone on I'm mostly just concerned about how only we do on the pitch! I'll never grow too old to have a dig at a rival club mind
I love football with a passion, but I've learnt that by leaving it behind just a little bit doesn't mean you love it any less.
As for Frank and your reply (appreciated), it seems to me we've tried the big name managers and the upcoming managers and both opposites haven't really made a difference.
I think there was a post recently where it feels like there's a curse on us and it's so bizarre what's happened with us that that can be the only explanation!
At this point I don't know if it's worth trying a youngish manager, an established one, or if we just go for someone somewhere in the middle
I honestly have no clue, but from very little I know of Thomas Frank he seems like a good guy and I can't think of anyone else haha
Given the state of our squad, we'd be better off with Thomas Frankenstein.

I feel like moyes is perpetually stressed out in some way. Maybe that's just his demeanour I don't know. But Frank gives me the impression of someone who is relaxed and happy in his life. Maybe the United job would undo all of that but you can't deny LvG, Jose, and even ETH are quite determined and or serious characters

It also helps that Brentford are, well, Brentford, not United. Take away the spotlight, scrutiny, expectations, wealth, and you’d get the outcome you’re hoping for!
