Messi . Easy
best goal ... Kemar Roofe - Rangers europa cup, scored from his own half after beating a couple of players, the pitch was shocking and the amount of surface water was mental. to pull off what he did in those conditions was simply jaw dropping.
best performance : Rui Costa Rangers v AC Milan, he absolutely strolled that game, other contender was Riquelme for Villareal v Rangers, we couldnt get near him
Best talent is Messi hands down but in terms of a one-off individual performance, I would have to say Dimitar Berbatov.
In the League Cup against City at Eastlands. Tottenham were down to 10 men and he played like a man possessed. City's defence couldn't handle him and Spurs won the tie, if memory serves.
As for the goal. As I am sure will be the case for any City fan who witnessed it, it will always be 93:20.
Messi, easy.
Best goal: Danny Swanson long range volley vs St J's
Alessandro Nesta and Didier Drogba when they played for Montreal. Both were passed their best but the skill they still possessed was amazing to see live.
Haven't gone to games for years so haven't seen any of the latest retiree's like Messi or squarez

Just googled that Roofe goal: it's incredible. Has everything.

Due to normally watching lower league Football live, my list isn't long!
I do though remember watching a young Steven Gerrard play against Wycombe in the 2001 cup semi final at Villa Park.
Liverpool had a fine team, including players like Fowler and Owen but when Gerrard came on he looked liked he was playing on a different level.

remember my reaction when I seen it happen. genuinely stood up with hand on my head shouting OMG what has he just done... Oh my F***ng god.
Johan Cryuff for New York Cosmos v Chelsea exhibition match at Stamford Bridge September 1978 … he’d recently retired after playing for Barcelona (only to return to playing football a year or so later) and he had all the silkiness and flair you’d expect … and is without any doubt the greatest footballer I’ve ever seen live.
Easy, King Kenny Dalglish.
I was born in 1977, my uncle took me to my first game against arsenal, first game of the season, Ronnie Whelan and Steve Nicol scored and we won 2 nil 1985.
Kenny set up Nicol for the 2nd goal, but I was mesmerized by his sheer control of the game and his skill, to me at that time he was the best player in the world. From then on in, I would always look for his name on the teem sheet, if it was on there, I just knew we would win.
There have been many since, but I might be looking at things through nostalgic eyes, but for me nobody has ever come close.
Messi - bloke is ridiculous, I don’t understand how it’s possible to control a ball at that speed whilst also be able to turn on a sixpence
Best individual performance though - Bale vs Inter in the CL. Absolutely minced that Inter back line to the point where Figo on the Inter bench stood up and applauded
Best goal - Ginola used to score a couple of worldies a season for us, there was one away at Barnsley where he beat 4 players and then stuck it in the corner. However, my winner here is Van Der Vaart away to Villa one Boxing Day - might have been 2011. Anyway, Spurs were down to 10 men but still had circa 60% possession, we had one counter attack move that saw Modric win the ball, play it to Bale who shredded his man, then play it to Lennon who shredded his man and lay it off to the edge of the area for VDV to perfectly place the ball past Friedel - great goal, put us 2-0 up and we held on to win 2-1 - I was bouncing around Villa park that day.
As for best goal, WOW, now you've got me thinking. Alan Shearer's volley against Everton. Luis Suarez goal against Newcastle.
That Roberto Carlos free kick, is up there though, Ian Rush's FA cup goal against Everton 1989 in extra time.
Too many to pick a favorite.
Best goal one is certainly a tough one.
I was there for the norwich flick from zola.
Drogba in munich for importance.
The ronaldinho toe poke.
Hazard v arsenal, west ham. So many good ones.
If I have to narrow it down to one, it would be Jimmy Greaves. Davie Gibson just behind.
I remember watching Berbatov in his prime play for Spurs in 2007 just before Christmas time at Man City where he almost single handedly dismantled the whole City team laying on both goals for a Spurs 2 nil midweek league cup win. He was definitely that night unplayable!
Just checked out that kemar roofe one, the hold up play alone is incredible.
George Best and Frank Worthington.
But that's largely because I stopped attending First Division games in the mid-late '70s. The venues and surrounding areas were too dangerous, plus musical entertainment venues were far more more enriching to someone in their late 'teens'.
Would like to have seen Maradona and Ronaldo (the the two greatest, most constructive and contributive team footballers ever) but it wasn't to be

he plays defender to win the ball twice, he plays midfielder by progressing the ball and passing to himself, he plays striker with an outrageous finish.
Messi or R9 for me.
Messi at Wembley in CL final and R9 for his Hat trick in the 4-3 classic against Madrid at OT.
Messi
Cambiasso for Argentina WC 06 v Serbia, what a team goal, 30 or so passes, beautiful!
Fraser Forster against Barcelona 2-1 Celtic.
Best game live was Wycombe vs Wimbledon the 2001 FA cup last 16 replay.
Wycombe were 2-0 down against a team who I think were in the division above Wycombe at the time, got back to 2-2 and won on pens. The drama that night was immense.
Best player and best performance George Best and on numerous occasions.
Best goal Tony Yeboah v Wimbledon.
