I may not be too enamoured by Zirkzee's performances so far. But fck Neil Custis

Players like Sheringham were never quick but he was intelligent. Maybe Zirkzee can be that player for us. Even half the player Teddy was would be an upgrade on anything we have.

I'll not write him off yet, he seems like a very clever player. Let's see how he gets on once the new manager arrives. I'm not really sure that he fits his system, but we will see.

Zirkzee doesn't look suited to pressing from the front, you could see his lack of pace when chasing a through ball against Chelsea, nowhere near getting a shot on goal.
He may be decent if we start dominating the ball and playing higher up the pitch but I'd still have my doubts

It's strange how he came on in opening game against Fulham and got the winner with a neat finish and everyone felt optimistic over him.
Just needs more time, under the incoming manager, and let's see what he can do.
Seem to be a fair few folk generally not giving anyone any time and making decisions on them over a handful of games

I have absolutely no idea what to make of him right now. He's had a couple of good games against Southampton and Palace, but been really shīt otherwise. Like, really shīt. But the contrasts with him are so big that I don't really know which of those performances are going to be the norm and which are the outliers.
I think Capello is bang on - he's probably a good player who has just not got to grips with the pace of the league, and it's definitely not a given that he ever will.

Fair point. I think he's been too soft on the ball so far. Easily dispossessed and his passing is always lacklustre which makes it prone to being intercepted in the pace of the PL.
Having said that, like most of our players he needs the right support and coaching to sharpen up his game, gain a bit of physical strength. Hopefully new backroom staff coming in with Amorim (and RVN who knows) gets to work on him.

If you looked at any of our players in the past few weeks, no-one comes out with flying colours.
I think Maz has prob been our best performer, players have maybe done well in the odd game, but it's been a poor showing from most, so no need to pick on Zirkzee in particular

He seems to looks class and hopeless in the same moment right now. We see a really neat touch or turn that leaves a defender for dead followed by a wayward pass or the next touch being heavy.
To me it looks very much like a case of just being off the pace to do the second bit as nicely as the first bit.
The reality is he had no preseason, didn't play at the Euros either and is in a new league, new country and a team struggling for attacking cohesion. His confidence looks low also.
I've no idea over the validity of the linked article but to my eye Zirkzee does look a little heavier than he did at Bologna.

His size shouldn't be discussed by journalists. His impact and ability is fair game though. So far he's proven what I said in the summer. He's not the standard of player that we should be recruiting. A baffling decision by INEOS.
Be amazed if he is still a Utd player next season. This level is just way too much for him.

“though it has been revealed that the Dutchman was not someone Ten Hag wanted to sign in the summer – presumably because he has never played for Ajax.”
It's November and he's still not fit. You see him lacking intensity and standing with his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath.
