Throw all form out of the window, NES has won MOTM and Chris Wood POTM, hopefully its not the usual doom that goes with these awards, though I’m sure the Premier League would be delighted if the jinx continues.

Sunday will be a tough test of our present league position.
Were Arsenal having a off day [ or they're starting to bottle it] or did Newcastle just outplay em' rather like we did to Liverpool?
I would like to see a repeat of the 1-3 turnover we gave them last year.

Having looked at last weeks match report, Newcastle scored a very good early first half goal and then went off the boil some what; Arsenal only managed one on target strike in the whole game.
We should have a very good chance of winning this, I hope Nuno stays in the stand out of the way in case A.T produces any more of his furcups.

This will be a good test for us. Newcastle are one of our rivals for a minor european place. Isak and Gordon pose a serious threat. But at the other end their back five is definitely a bit shaky. Goals at both ends tomorrow and hopefully we nick it, but a draw wouldn’t be the end of the world

I’m not bothered about catching City or Liverpool at this stage of the season, I just want to stay ahead of those clubs chasing us.
I think top four is beyond us to be honest. City Liverpool Chelsea and Arsenal will take those places. But there is a bunch of about six clubs chasing three minor euro places. That is within our capabilities. Today’s opponents are also hoping for one of those spots so a win today has extra value.

There are certain games in a season, that for some reason or other, feel a bit ‘special’, even though there is no local rivalry, this game for me, fits into that category.
I always look forward to this fixture, it’s seldom boring, a bit like playing Leeds, and i think today will be no different.
It’s amazing to think that we are competing with the likes of Newcastle, they have been streets ahead of us recently, in fact, they were where we were aiming for, I’m not saying we’ve arrived, but are at least heading in the right direction.
Today could well come down to the performance of the wide players, Gordon for them, and CHO and Elanga for us.
Eddie Howe obviously rates Elanga very highly.
I believe we are better defensively than Newcastle, but even in other departments of the pitch, Isak really can be a danger, as can Wood.
I don’t see today being goalless, but i doubt it will be littered with guilt edge chances, like the away fixture last season, it will be a case of who makes the most of the ones that come along.
We are probably slight favourites, and with the chance of sitting third for the International break, as an incentive, i am going for Forest to nick this one by the odd goal, either 2-1 or 3-2.
Here’s hoping for NO VAR controversy, and a continuation of our recent form plus 3 points to cement our place.
COYR’s.

That was a tough watch. We need to improve second half or we’ll end up losing this.

We didn’t improve. We lost.
Bad day at the office.
Hope to improve at Arsenal.

Not our day unfortunately

Wasn’t to be. Newcastle were far the better side. I’m feeling disappointed but have to remember the start we’ve made. Hopefully bounce back against…. Arsenal

Probably something of a reality check.
Don’t know why, even at 1-0 we didn’t look good.
Newcastle pretty much controlled the game, we showed some fight at 2-1 down but weren’t good enough to get back into the game.
VAR had very little to say, Anthony Taylor wasn’t unduly controversial, who knows, we might even get away without any fines.
As mentioned above, we have to look at the table, take stock of what we have achieved, and bounce back.
Tough run of fixtures coming up, but that is probably for the better.
All teams have an off day, today unfortunately was ours, the game reminded me of our victory at theirs, it was a case of taking your chances.

Awful performance. For once I am glad we have an international break.

CHO and MGW both had poor games. Our communication was poor throughout with too many misplaced passes.

Other than Murillo getting his first goal and no injuries I take zero positives from this game.

We’ve done incredibly well to be 5th after 11 games, but will have to be a lot better if we hope to stay there.

Having slept on it here are a few thoughts:
Although we conceded three, the back four is still fine for me. Maybe, though we could have gone to a back three and pushed Aina and Moreno higher to help out the midfield.
Yates and Dominguez couldn’t cope with their three in midfield. I think we should recognise that Sangare and Danilo will not figure much in the second half of the season and we should be bringing in some extra muscle in midfield
The attacking quartet all under performed yesterday. Don’t mean that as a criticism given that they have worked wonders to help get us to fifth in the league; something I don’t think any of us predicted. The backup quartet - Anderson, Silva, Awoniyi, and Sosa are all good enough to start games and play 90 minutes if necessary. Nuno should consider rotating who starts games more often after the break.
Finally, we’re fifth in the league - we’re doing brilliantly.

P.s.

Yesterday, they did to us what we did to them in December.
