Wasn't this story (although probably not by the same outlet) published during the last international break, and the one before that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aye but no one knew who the clubs were behind it, it’s been revealed now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one knew which clubs were vying for top four and Premier League Champions places?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No Chelsea there, though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea already confessed and threw Abramovic under the bus for dealings around that time.

But there would have still been seasons where they were impacted by City’c cheating, despite their own cheating.

What compensation should City pay?

posted on 13/11/24

It's literally impossible for them to get found not guilty. 35 charges relate to them not complying so they are getting some sort of punishment in every eventuality. They can't argue against those charges.

Whether the PL can get any of the more serious ones to stick remains to be seen.

Spurs will end up with the highest pay out.

Not only have they been deprived of potential trophies, but they’ve been made the complete laughing stock of English football for over a decade partly due to City’s crimes against football.

Levy’s lawyers will be all over this.

They probably don’t want the light shone too brightly in their direction…

Sadly, the examples in this thread probably give a good indication as to why the PL won’t come down hard on City, precisely because every club who’s ever played them could come out of the woodwork with potential claims. Too much of a headache. Better just find them guilt of some trivial administrative stuff and fine them an amount they could find down the back of the sofa.

I’m not sure which seasons Chelsea got done for cheating. But it would be the other ones they didn’t.

Yeah because we know City were cheating every season whereas we don’t know that Chelsea were.

Man City should also be compensating their own fans for so many trips abroad, trips to cup finals which have ultimately turned out to be meaningless. The fans wouldn't have made the trips to Wembley for example if they knew that they couldn't legally win the trophy.

People mock the likes of Boris on here, but the poor bloke has spent thousands of his children's inheritance travelling to matches and competitions that it turns out his team aren't even eligible for.

It's a very similar situation as with Jimmy Savile. When everything came out, his fans lost years of happy memories that turned out were all a lie. City fans are still in the denial phase though.

When they accept that years of their life were a waste of time, then they will seek compensation. But it will take time to get there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know this is a WUM but there is a good point here.

We also have to be very careful about awarding titles to teams finishing second.

If this happens he funniest thing ever to happen in Premier League history, the Gerrard slip, won't matter. We wouldn't want that to happen.

Not sure there is to be fair, at least not for the reasoning given. There is in terms of some city fans will feel aggrieved as much as others if we are found guilty of the more serious charges.

City being in the 12th tier of British football, and being stripped of all their titles and cups will be compensation enough.

Cheats must always be punished very severely for the integrity of sport.

The good point part I was referring to is that I think you'd feel more than entitled to feel aggrieved if there was something dodgy going on. I know you would have lived the moment of those wins, and that can't be taken away, but I'd be very annoyed as a United fan if that happened to us.

You're a decent City fan (to be fair most I know are) so you wouldn't really deserve this IMO.

My mate Abu Dhabi Dave reckons he’s got all the inside gossip on Manchester City. He’s always claiming he knows about the “illicit” activities going on, like some rogue detective. “I tell you, mate,” he says to me, “they should be demoted straight to the Amateur FA, all titles stripped.” He’s got a very, uh, creative imagination, to say the least.

Now, here’s where it gets even better. Abu Dhabi Dave swears he's on a first-name basis with Khaldoon Al Mubarak himself. And get this: apparently, the weight of those 115 charges is really getting to Khaldoon. Dave says he hardly sleeps at night. “Every night, it’s the same story,” Dave claims. “Khaldoon wakes up drenched in sweat, calls me at 3 am, screaming my name like a madman. Then he calls me a pig and bursts into tears."

Not only that, but according to Abu Dhabi Dave, Khaldoon’s coping strategies are... unique. “He’s got this strange ritual, you see,” says Dave, with a completely straight face. “After he hangs up, he goes for a 3 am jog around his mansion, and by the time he’s back, he’s scarfing down a bacon sandwich and downing a pint of lager.”

And apparently, Dave says the video calls don’t end there. “When he’s back home, he video calls me again. He's there, covered in sweat, stuffing his face with pork, beer in hand, and get this—he’s blowing his nose into a British Pound note! True story,”

Abu Dhabi Dave says there is more to follow
