Navas, Karius or Hennessy are all without clubs
posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
Also, I’ve just looked it up and healing time for an ankle fracture after surgery is way longer than a few weeks. It says anything from 16 weeks to 2 years for a total recovery. Wtf? Surely that can’t be right? He won’t be back at least until we return to the Europa at best, more likely only for the run in.
I hate this club. I know it’s bad luck but seriously, no one has a keeper drop off like us. We needed someone in the summer.
posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
We need someone in 1st January. No it’s no buts. Given the way we play, this is probably the most catastrophic injury we could have got.

dont u have some decent youth goalie? feel blessed at liverpool with Kelleher and Jaros etc.
posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
Yeah we've got a few. And yeah Forster's not fantastic but it's not going to be catastrophic as some are making out
posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago
Stick Austin in goal against Roma, and Forster against Fulham. Even with a weakened keeper we still have a decent chance of winning those games. Whichever keeper performs best from those two becomes first choice for the time being.
Or get really experimental and then stick Whiteman in goal against Bournemouth and make it a three way shoot out between them.

You watch. He can’t play out. It’s not his ability to shot stop I’m worried about. It’s giving away needless chances to the opposition. It’s definitely a problem but it’s all Levy’s fault. It’s an area we’ve neglected for a long time. I’d sooner see our kids get promoted than get Forster in.

Seems like Luca Gunter from U21's is injured as well. Very good with his feet and played for England at youth level. Pretty sure he captained some of the teams he has played in as well. But oh well.

Really liked the look of him when I've seen bits of him playing. Only about 19 I think though which is super young for a keeper. Didn't seem the tallest to me but it's hard to tell.

Josh Keely is on loan at Orient as well and has had some decent reviews. He could be another option if we can call him back.

Hes too good to be no2 to alisson i think hes got a year left in the summer so he be available. Be lucky if he signs a new contract and any club that signs him be lucky.
30m wud be tempting enough i dont think we’d price him out of a move or anything, have to do right by him. Theres so many crap keepers inthe prem im shocked none of them have gone in hard for him already.

That the club did not address this in the summer was a joke. I said so at the time.
If Forster had been in goal in Saturday, we would probably not had won.
I wonder if levy cheapskates on the medical team hiring too?

Perhaps it’s time the club actually did some proper succession planning for a change. Forster hasn’t been the answer for ages and we just keep around extra keepers for a giggle.
It’s ridiculous tbh and it will almost certainly derail us. We all know that Forster isn’t the answer for any length of time at all.
Most wins just became draws and most draws just became defeats.

It's becoming a joke now the number of injuries our players get. He walked of absolutely fine at the weekend. Now out for 3 months.
So that's Vicario, Micky, Romero, Bentancur, Richarlison, Odobert all out injured. No doubt with the brutal fixtures
this side of Xmas, you can almost certainly add another three or four key players getting injured this side of Xmas.
The season will quickly then get derailed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He didn’t walk fine. You see him go down with it then play 60 mins with a broken bone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The bright side of this is that, so far, the reserves like Davies and Dragusin have shown up and played very well.
Perhaps Forster will be a surprise too?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Forster made some great saves vs Galatasaray.
His first game this season, was a return after a lengthy injury and he looked ropey. But last time out he was very good. Never going to be great with the ball at his feet, so the defenders must keep that in mind. No doubt he will be targeted when we start playing around at the back.
