The problem with not sorting this in the summer is now we are scratching around for who is available instead of who is compatible. It was the same last year when we were scratching around for a cb and ended up with dragusin who, whilst being an ok defender, really isn’t right for this system.

Really poor again on the football front from the club. Probably too busy drawing a new corporate logo or something

Reactive not proactive.

Everything is fluid.

It's a given that Spurs will sign a keeper in January. He might do very well and suddenly Vic is battling to re-establish himself as the No 1.

There's also big Lurch to consider and how he does in what will surely be a run of games for him.

Btw.....Keylor Navas is a free agent apparently.

We have Forster.

We are not scratching around as we have no back up keeper. We have 3 back ups.

What will determine our action is the length of the lay off. Could be anything from 6 weeks to 6 months.

I do not even give much weight to the reports we are looking to buy in January because it could very easily be lazy journalism.

The one report I have seen that makes sense is that from the Times which says we may be bringing forward our plans for a long term replacement .

That to me shows that we were happy with Forster as back up this season BUT if Vic injury is long term then the need for a quality 3rd choice, who is the heir to Forster and possibly even to challenge for first place in time, may now be a priority.

What we will be going for is a back up to Forster this season, who becomes 2nd choice next season - so there is faith in Forster this season.

Who ever we get will be behind Forster.

We are not going to buy a keeper and throw him into the defence straight away, when we have Forster who is experienced and has played plenty in our back line.

We will maintain continuity mid-season and Forster will be replaced as 2nd choice either by whoever we get in now (if anyone) or in the summer.

So you think that having Navas in, now as he's a free agent, someone who hasnt played a match in 6 months, older than Forster, throwing him in a back line with Drag & Davies is a winning formula?

You think getting Trafford from Burnley, a very young keeper, who if you saw him last season, made a lot of errors, and threw him into our back line in January is also a winning formula? He's a guy (22) who struggled way more with commanding his area than Vic has.

A better option than having Forster in goal?

This isn't FIFA or Fantasy Football. You dont just swap players in and out and expect it to work, especially with the key position of GK.

Its absurd that anyone thinks this way.

IF Vic is out long term, then maybe someone like Trafford comes in BUT i still do not think he walks straight into the team. He may earn that position as back up who gets some game time in low tariff Europa / Cup matches, but he ain't walking straight in.

I suspect that Vic will be back in Jan/Feb which negates the need for new signing as we can cope in the mean time.

How petty!

If Forster is a liability then what do you suggest?

posted 1 day, 6 hours ago

It will have to be someone who can play the ball out from the back. So no Hugo.

I suggest the January transfer window, hence the article.

You didn't say anything in the article just asked questions.

Why don't you give an opinion on what we could and should do before calling other peoples opinion's absurd?!

you were indicating that we would either buy a keeper worse than Forster or if we bought a better one then he wouldnt play because hes never played with the defence before lol

why sign anyone in that case

Forster isn't great but it's not as if we've been keeping clean sheets regularly anyway. Unless he makes howlers then I suspect any losses won't be because we had to change keeper.

It’s more his ball playing. While Vicario isn’t great the drop off to Forster is very big
