Forster isn't great but it's not as if we've been keeping clean sheets regularly anyway. Unless he makes howlers then I suspect any losses won't be because we had to change keeper.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s more his ball playing. While Vicario isn’t great the drop off to Forster is very big
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Luckily the incoming fixtures are fairly generous that we may be able to carry Forster, although naturally he'll be a worry for the games against Chelsea and Liverpool.
Still, I wouldn't say the form is going to get any worse with him in the team. We should in this less difficult period be able to pick up more wins and have less losses than usual.
Seems Ange has confirmed we’re sticking with Forster, so I goes that’s that.
Seems completely ridiculous to me, but I suppose time will tell.

First name being bandied around; Burnley’s James Trafford.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I’d love this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Weak.

So is doing nothing, but it’s the cheapskate option so Levy will have ordered that.

you were indicating that we would either buy a keeper worse than Forster or if we bought a better one then he wouldnt play because hes never played with the defence before lol
why sign anyone in that case
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we were so spooked by the situation and went in for an immediately available keeper, then options would be very limited and likely to be back up to Forster.
It seems we had a plan to make the long term replacement of Forster which was likely to happen next summer. Now if we are bringing that plan forward, then again, it may be difficult to get exactly who we want in January without compromising the plan.
My view is that we are not looking to replace Vic as no.1 but looking for someone who could, in time seriously challenge him, and be a natural heir to him in time. That sort of GK is therefore likely to be a bit younger, a bit rawer than Vic.
I would also say that any keeper like that coming in is not going to be so experienced as to just walk into the team and seamlessly fit in. It will take time and at least initially they are going to be behind Forster, but would replace him next year. (Bare in mind that Vic will be back so there may not be time for new GK to force his way above Forster this season)
I dont see us going out and getting some 30 yo keeper permanently now because that would be to fail to succession plan.
I see the plan as getting someone who will still develop, will be no.2 for now, and if they really push on can genuinely challenge for /claim no.1 spot, or simply replace Vic if he moves on.
Trafford has been linked and he seems to fit that bill, but while we had Forster we were happy with the GK situation but may have to bring plans forward.

3-4 weeks?! Did the virus literally hit him 🤣
Has to be James Trafford we have scouted him.
Gavin Bazunu would be good if he recovers in time as Ramsdale has now blocked his path.
An out there name Gollini slipped to third choice at genoa and counts as home grown. Not a fan of his but better than Forster.
In the interim i would like to see Luca Gunter thrown in there the boy is special.
All this chatter is premature. Wait!
Foster is going to get his chance, no matter what....that's the current situation.
Then you can criticize or praise the result. Whatever

And Foster did well. Two fine saves, one in each half.
And no mistakes, can't be blamed for either goal.

He did. A couple heart stopping moments with the ball at his feet but no actual errors.
